We never used the terms "freshman, junior, senior, etc." for our high school, just whatever grade you were in. And we generally didn't use the numeric first, i.e. Tenth grade, it was always grade 10, grade 12. Our high school went to 12. Back then, Ontario schools went to 13 if you were going to university. We were in inner city school in a smallish city that only had two high schools and ours was the older of the two. Lots of rivalry there, then! We had a shit football team, but an excellent basketball team and a middling hockey team. The staff coach for hockey was a younger teacher whose nickname was "Mad Dog" and he was also the staff sponsor for our Monty Python club. He was pretty cool. I spent most of the three years (our high schools all go from grade 10 to 12, though some now may start with 9, not sure) in the yearbook office. All my female friends joined up and there was a little office int he back of our main office where there was a computer terminal linked to the university's mainframe. So from there, we met a group of boys who hung out in the computer area and thus, our group of friends was formed. Most of the girls were from the north end of the city and the boys from the south end so we never met in school before high school. Most of us are still in touch and still friends which is pretty amazing, really.

So on to the meme, from my grade 12 year:

Tell us about your SENIOR year of high school! The longer ago it was, the more fun the answers will be!
Class of: 1977
1. Did you know your spouse? No
2. Did you car pool? Took the bus or walked about a 20 minute hike.
3. What kind of car did you drive? I don't think any of my friends had cars in school.
4. It's FRIDAY night, where are you? Probably working at a local department store. Saturday nights were for house parties with our group.
5. What kind of job did you have? As previous, worked in a department store "Simpson's" mainly on cosmetics, stationery, jewellry, candy and cameras
6. Were you a party animal? A bit. My group of friends often had house parties
7. Were you considered a jock? Nope
8. Were you in band or orchestra? Nope
9. Were you a nerd? Kind of yes.
10. Did you get suspended? Nope
11. Can you sing the fight song? Don't think we had one.
12. Where did you eat? I belonged to the yearbook committee so we mainly hung out there, ate lunch there, did homework there. And worked on the yearbook, too!
13. What was the name of your High school? Dartmouth High School
14. What was your school mascot? Spartan
15. If you could go back and do it again would you do? Probably not
16. Did you have fun at prom? Didn't go. It wasn't really the done thing for a group of friends to go together, they all went with dates and the only guy that asked me in my senior year was a rather strange geeky weird guy who asked many, many girls. I don't know if anyone actually accepted or not.
17. Do you still talk to the person you went to prom with?  see previous
18. Are you planning on going to the next high school reunion? Maybe. They had a massive reunion for all from the classes of the 1970s which was quite good. Very organized.
19. Are you still in contact with people from high school? Yes, still see most of the same group of friends semi regularly.
20. Did you skip school? I did but not very often. maybe a handful of classes at most. I had a fairly easy schedule in grade 12, with three classes off in a row over lunch every day and on Tuesdays, I had one class in the morning about 9 and another one in the afternoon about 2. Didn't go home between, hung out in the yearbook office instead or went to the nearby shopping strip mall.
