Everyone is in utter hysteria due to a big winter storm arriving tomorrow. You can see the pseudo-satellite in this photo. What I want to know is what the heck is the difference between a blizzard and any of the other things mentioned. Blizzard and wind? Isn't that part of what makes a blizzard a blizzard? And by the very definition it's a winter storm. Surge? sheesh. I"m booking the day off. I'm not stressing over how i'm going to get home. It's not supposed to get bad until the morning so we are expected to get to work. If it's as bad as they're predicting, chances are they'll tell us to get home, probably just before the busses stop running. I don't want to risk getting stuck here. You wouldn't know it, though, to look outside today when the sun is shining and the sky is blue.
What else... Read today that Johnny Depp is doing a fifth Pirates of the Caribbean movie. I really think they've pulled that one out as much as they can. The fourth one wasn't all that good and what was fresh and funny is now getting old and tired.
Have scheduled to get my hair trimmed and my traditional pedicure before i leave (11 sleeps!). My suitcase is out of the closet so i will likely start throwing stuff in very shortly.
My oven isn't working nor is the plug on it though the burners and the oven light itself does work. I've called and have been told they'll look at it today. THey were coming in anyway to do an inspection, something they routinely do to see if there are any particular issues like leaky windows, functioning smoke detectors, stuff like that. I called about the oven. It's probably a fuse but the oven takes a higher amp fuse and I don't have any and I don't think the drugstore carries anything other than 15 amp fuses. I will check before I go home anyway, just in case they don't fix it. I also made a cheeky request for them to change my kitchen light bulb because I need a step ladder to do it, and don't have one, and I can't quite figure out how the new fixture comes apart. I did leave them a bulb on the kitchen counter in anticipation of the request. ;) As of this year, I believe, the old tungsten light bulbs are no longer to be sold in Canada (or is it just here in NS?) in favour of the CFL bulbs which you can't recycle easily, by the way and you can't throw out. That's forward thinking isn't it! Anyway they gave me a new kitchen light fixture in the fall and put, you guessed it, the old kind of light bulbs rather than the new ones. Luckily, i did have an extra bulb but i guess i should get in a couple. They last a lot longer but they do give out eventually.
