Traditional year end meme
1. What did you do in 2015 that you'd never done before?
Visited Hadrian's Wall, Lindisfarne and the Blackpool Illuminations, saw Billy Connolly on stage.
Met lots of G.'s relatives and friends.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I always make sure to do some new things each year, which might just include visiting somewhere new or seeing a museum or gallery that's new to me so yes, I achieved my goal and will be making the same goal again.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
My cousin had a new baby girl.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
My cousin's husband died.
5. Which countries did you visit?
England
6. What would you like to have in 2016 that you lacked in 2015?
My husband living in the same country as me!
7. What dates from 2015 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
May 9, our wedding day. Sept. 12 our UK wedding bash.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Planning a wedding and two receptions, with very little debt afterwards.
9. What was your biggest failure?
I stopped going to the gym. Really do have to get back to that.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Nothing serious.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
Thick memory foam mattress topper. Bliss!
The pearl and crystal wedding tiara/headband, an unexpected purchase but something that really turned out special.
12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
Our new PM Justin Trudeau is starting off well. The day after he was elected, he stood in the busy subway (underground) in Montreal, greeting people and shaking hands and he also went to the airport to greet and welcome the first few Syrian refugees that landed in Canada.
My friend Katherine who came down from Quebec to marry us (no charge!) and all of the friends that traveled a distance to come to the wedding and celebrations here and in the UK.
13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
Prior to our federal election, former PM Stephen Harper continued to be an embarassement to the country.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Wedding expenses.
15. What were you really, really, really excited about?
Our wedding (are you sensing a theme here?)
My friend Annie who not only came out as transgender to the world (though some of us and her family have known for awhile) and also got a big acting break in a part in a UK soap, Hollyoaks after a lot of years struggling.

Someone Like You by Van Morrison. "Our song".

Happier.

Will be on Skype with G. seeing in both my and the UK new year.

No I don't think so

I really loved the three books by Ransom Riggs about Miss Peregrine's Peculiar Children, Dark Places by Gillian Flynn, The Illusionists by Rosie Thomas, Gatekeeper by John Beresford, The Museum of Extraordinary Things by Alice Hoffman
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Didn't find anything new that grabbed me this year.
28. What did you want and get?
A husband ;)
29. What did you want and not get?
A raise (they've been negotiating but we've been without a contract since Nov. 2014)
30. What was your favourite film of this year?
Didn't really see that many in the theatre this year. I did like What We Did On Our Holiday.

Not much, spent time with family.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Canadian Immigration being more cooperative and speedy.

I don't have one.

The Hemsworth brothers are pretty.

The Canadian federal election

My best friends who both live away. My dad and his twin brother, my father-in-law. (and all my other loved ones that have died)

Reni, a consultant who worked with us for awhile and sat next to me. Lovely lady. We've met up for dinner since she's left and I think we'll continue to keep in touch. Hope so anyway.

Never too old to make new friends.
