The latest episode of Doctor Who was fabulous! It featured Sarah Jane Smith who was a companion to the Doctor in the 70's.

It showed what it was like to be left behind and what it was like for the Doctor having to leave them all behind. Rose and Sarah Jane nearly came to a hair-pulling fight but in the end i think they understood each other and Rose has a better idea of what to expect out of space-truckin' with the Doctor. That whole sub plot was really nice, and i don't mind saying it gave me a lump or two in my throat. The story was good, the Headmaster was very creepy but i'm kind of wondering how many more stories will have aliens morphing into humans and back again by whatever means. First we had the Slitheen zipping into human suits and now this Kill-i something morphing into bats. The story was good though and Yay for the one fella, young Kenny though it was never explained why he wasn't allowed to eat the chips was it? Next week we go to Versailles and Micky goes too! Wonder how long he'll last!

You know how therapeutic it is to clean out closets and things? I cleaned out the kitchen drawers earlier. I had the front panel fall off one of them so i had to nail it back on, thus having to empty it. I proceeded to empty the others too and weed out old sticky plastic bits and pieces and other stuff i don't use. Then i chucked the sticky plastic bits i probably would use into the sink to wash. erm... just how many funnels does one person need anyway?

Mom is feeling better and she came over this afternoon for a visit. We went out to Tim's for a tea and then dropped in on her best friend who lives a few blocks away from me. We had a nice visit. She's off to Hilton Head in about a week and gets back the day before i leave. The break, the change of scenery is going to be good for both of us.

I suspect the Kenny not allowed to eat chips thing is a reference to the childhood obesity/junk food/bad school dinners drive the British govt is on at the mo...

Yes i suppose so but i hate when they make me assume something. I sometimes have a tendency to pick things apart yet other things that you might think were picky, i don't even think about. In episode 1, [livejournal.com profile] gramie_dee mentioned that the clothing and telephone weren't appropriate for 5 billion AD but i never gave it a second thought. The other thing i noticed was that Mickey called Rose on the mobile, or at least left a voice mail. I knew her phone was rigged so she could call home but not the other way around else her mother would be ringing her all the time so how come he could call? Like i said, i have to stop myself being so picky sometimes. I do love the series and the show though i still think i prefer Eccleston to Tennant though he's good too.

I especially liked the way Anthony Head moved and looked just "not quite human"-the face-off between him and the Doctor was quite good.

I watched it for the second time tonight and cried again. I think I understand where Sarah Jane and the Doctor were both coming from. It must suck to go from adventures in time and space to Croyden and to have the man you loved forget about you for 30 years.

They did very well promoting both sides of that particular coin. The Doctor has had so much to deal with after all his compatriots died and never does look back.

Yes Anthony Head was superb!!!

Anthony Head was great. He really had a reptilian feel to his acting. Or should I say battilian? lol.

He really was great. And i loved the fire alarm to temporary disable the bats. Even after it stopped, they were shaking and shuddering lol

Yes i spotted one bat guy at the back shaking his head with confusion lol. Great little details. Also I read that every single bat creature was different and had it's own colouring and characteristics.

Going away will do her the world of good. I can relate to L's desire to go somewhere too. Now that I've my very first vacation, I'm itching to go again.....somewhere, anywhere. *sigh*

I have a bad feeling about poor Mickey.

Eek! No! Don't say that! I'm just hoping he'll get into trouble or danger and decide it's not for him and go back.

He's really come a long way at a character. I didn't like him much at first, but now I think he's great.

yes, they've started to develop him more and he's proven to be quite useful. But because he loves Rose and Rose loves the Doctor, he's doomed to be the tin dog isn't he!

I think he's doomed for worse! ;)

If we're lucky he'll get toasted.

There will always be room for aliens that can morph in to human form. Not only in Doctor Who either. It's called "keeping the budget low" and probably began way back in the 60's with shows like "The Invaders". Remember that? "Davide Vincent... a man without sleep". And a man without a special effects budget no doubt. ;)

And yay, an excuse to use one of my new user pics. :D

can't imagine that the cgi'd beasties are more expensive than the salaries for the human actors. Unless the actors are just cgi too!

Well it could also be the time involved in creating such CGI beasties. Much quicker to film a person than all that rigmarole of pretending there's something there and adding it in later. Plus although I love CGI effects, they still haven't created an effect that can actually act so I think we're stuck with morphing humans for a bit longer.
