Family reunion

Another great family party today. Many of the local family members came to Mom's for a pot luck buffet to welcome Linda and Dave, from the west coast side of the family. Linda is the daughter of dad's older brother and the last time she was east was in 1969 when she was about 12. There were three generations at the party, the "aunties and uncles", then us first cousins and then the children of our generation so we took photos that way. The "Outlaws" (spouses and partners) weren't all that keen on having their photos most of them and there was also a newly married couple at the party. Food loaded down the tables as always and our four footed guest, Zeke the schnauzer was perfectly behaved. Photos here and a few highlights behind the cut, of no interest to most of you out there as you won't know them from Adam anyway. :)

You don't have parties where everyone brings a different dish to make a nice buffet?

hahah I was thinking after I pressed send I hadn't explained properly

we do have parties
and we do have food

I dont think I have ever been to one where I have been required to take soemething

although I do think people do do that, that is why I have heard of a jacobs join

usually its the host/hostess who provides the food, either they made it themselves or have caterers, its a good idea! I might start a trend!

Well we do have parties where the hosts provide all the food as well. Mom used to do that for Christmas Eve open house parties. It's such a lot of work though if you are having loads of people. This way, everyone gets to make their specialty and you get lots of variety though you need to make sure not everyone brings the same thing. We often did it for our Christmas office party at work too.

It is an excellent idea!

it costs a fortune as well when you make it all yourself

I remember when I used to do kids parties and had to make all the food, party bags, cake etc games it cost a ton

It was much easier when they got a bit older and wanted to go out!

I might suggest that for our party at work see what people think

You might have to have access to an oven or microwave to heat up stuff. A lot of people here bring slow cookers/(electric crock pots)
