WTF?

So wedding hats these days are passe and they're all wearing what they call "fascinators". Nothing fascinating about this monstrosity worn by Princess Beatrice to the wedding of her cousin, Peter Phillips yesterday. Dear god/dess! Pity. She's a pretty girl. The Queen and Camilla both wore feathery concoctions but were restrained. Bea wore a multi coloured dress which just seemed like a regular summer dress, topped with a short white jacket. She'd have been better off at least choosing a sleeker hair style and a sleeker dress without a jacket over it. It might have come off as more cutting edge and trendy instead of just a really bad fashion choice. Looks like she inherited her taste from her mother.

wtf?

Could have been worse - could have been the one in my icon ;)

Don't give her any ideas!

She seems a lovely young girl yet her fashion sense is appalling! It must be because she is a royal and therefore genetically a bit staid, but her mother has changed so much over the years, and her cousins have trendy girlfriends you would hope they would help...

Ah well, maybe we can at least say she isn't shallow and has more sensible interests...

True. But her mother had to learn fashion sense the hard way. It seems like she's definitely not shallow. Maybe she's just daft and quirky but it just hasn't "blossomed" yet lol

When I look at a hat like that, all I can think of is the amount of butterfly poo she'd have in her hair if the hat was real. Probably not the effect she was after.

Well as me dad would have said, she'd better hang on to something if the wind comes up.

She looks rather nervous -- I guess she doesn't want to disturb all those butterflies perching on her head. Pity one can't see the hat for them, though.

There isn't a hat. that's all there is. butterflies lol

My first thought was why did someone photoshop that on her head. Then realized...yikes!

[identity profile] tvor.livejournal.com 2008-05-18 04:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Lol yes!

I thought Camilla's was also ungainly and made her hair look like a wig (I know what a hat on a wig looks like, as my sister has to wear a wig)- pity after the success of her own wedding hat. The Queen's was also a mistake (rare that, but perhaps she did her own thing for a "private" family occasion), as it, on the contrary, looked as if it were part of her own hair! I think the butterflies were too many, top-heavy etc, but the idea was good - the dress was also butterfly print, and I like the colours. The bridesmaids' dresses and bouquets were also lovely. But I'm afraid I think most headgear requires an up-do, and they will all (Katherine and Chelsey too) wear long unstructured styles even to such formal events. Why, when they can afford a good hairdresser? Eugenie has a nice bobbed style, and looked the best of the bunch.
Why am I royal-watching? Well at least it's an escaped from the memoirs of Cherie, John Prescott and Lord Flipping Levy, which are being discussed, sent up on comedy programmes and generally done to death here at the present!

Camilla's was ok. but her hair always looks like a helmet though yes, she did look nice on her wedding day. I think maybe the Queen decided to get in on the "fascinator" style and it doesn't suit as much. Her dress was nice though. The butterflies might have worked if her hair was swept up like the bridesmaids were. Maybe. Yes, the colours were nice but i would have liked a sheath type dress instead of what it was she had on. She's old enough to carry off the sheath i think.

A pretty girl? She's inherited her father's teeth and her mother's pop eyes (which the press lovingly capture at every opportunity). Not a good combination (imo).

[identity profile] tvor.livejournal.com 2008-05-18 07:37 pm (UTC)(link)
She's got lovely eyes i think, and so does her mother. and lovely hair.

awww she's just a kid leave her alone

we all make fashion mistakes at some time in our life

she'll grow out of it, a lot of people don't

I do agree the hat is hideous

[identity profile] tvor.livejournal.com 2008-05-18 07:36 pm (UTC)(link)
it took her mother years and innumerable consultants to grow out of it.

[identity profile] trixiedelarue.livejournal.com 2008-05-18 07:58 pm (UTC)(link)
what I meant is a lot of people wandering the streets these days in their 30 and 40's and still dressing like they did in the 80's

move on

Fergie has been in the press lately sticking up for her daughter as the tabloids were saying she was fat.... she's a size 10

[identity profile] tvor.livejournal.com 2008-05-18 08:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Now that really does make me angry. Size 10? My leg isn't a size 10 ffs. i feel so bad for young girls today. It wasn't quite this bad when i was her age.
