(no subject)

I am thus reminded why i never bothered to get another car. My legs are wet up to my knees. My hair is a sweaty mess. My glasses are finally de-fogging. My broom is the worse for wear. Yes, folks, i had to dig out the rental car this morning using my booted feet and a broom, not owning a shovel. Grrrrr.... Actually it didn't go that badly, the car wasn't buried but there was quite a bit of snow on it and i had to kick the snow out from around the tires and in front of the car. Took a bit of trying to get it out of the parking spot but it wasn't too bad after a second kick at the snow from around the tires. Drove it around the block to the parking lot behind my building where many spaces were plowed out so i have a clean place to park for now.

Have picked up and tidied a bit, taken many bags of trash and compost and newspapers to the parking garage. Have finally peeled off all the little wrappers from the caramels so i can melt them and make candy. That's the next job. I will have to get some groceries before i make the artichoke dip as i have no parmesan cheese in enough quantity.

Let's see... Oh hey the new tree is up and connected and in it's stand and the angel is precariously sitting on the top. Not sure about that though, because the topmost bit that she's speared onto have a couple of lights on which means she's got lights on the inside. she's made of paper so i don't really like that. I think i may see if i can't push the lights down to the end of the branches and fix that. I haven't decorated it yet, too many other things to do but i did get the stuff out of the storage closet. I can pick at it in the evenings this week and it'll be done in a couple of days i expect. Tree is very tall though, so it must be 7 foot.

All my pecan almond caramel chocolates are done and dipped and cooling in the fridge. I *just* had enough chocolate for all 7 dozen.

The artichokes are mashed and i'll put that dip together in a bit and bake it. Dishes were done. Bathroom cleaned.

I also went out for groceries and as always, when i have a car, i end up buying far more than i planned but the freezer is full. Am sitting here with the ice on my back mainly because it's just a little achy from that snow removal this morning. The driving was a bit iffy on side streets, they are cleared but you're still driving on snow. the main highways are bare and the main roads are not too bad. People, for a change, seem to be driving pretty carefully. How many different *wrong* lanes did i find today? Why no, i have no fucking idea where i'm going, thanks for asking! Between going to a grocery store that i'm not used to going to, and the sun in my eyes driving back, and a bright idea of driving around the mall instead of the highway with a very treacherous circular off ramp, i ended up in the parking lot of MicMac Mall on a Saturday afternoon! Agh! I think i noticed a few narrow-eyed glares from some of the parking space trawlers but i fooled them. I just drove around the perimeter to the exit on the other side.

I've been invited to two parties tonight but i don't think i have the energy. One is at quite a distance from here, a good 30-40 minute drive and i usually go every year. It figures that this year i have my own transportation and am too buggered to go. Damn snow.
