2017 in review
Dec. 30th, 2017 12:15 pm( 2017 in review )So, that's it for 2017. Summing up, not a bad year but some health issues dragging down the average score a point or two. Gotta get back to being more active next year which should help.
2012 in Review
Dec. 31st, 2012 10:34 amMy usual year in review, by month. More for my own records than anything.
2012 certainly had it's ups and downs. A nearly 2 month transit strike made things difficult last winter but I did have transport and could work a four day week. But my back also gave me grief about that time.
Our trip to Quebec by train was up and down. We didn't like the train all that much, me mainly because my back was still not great and it turned into sciatica before we returned so it put a bit of a damper on the trip. Nice to see old friends though.
The Tall Ships were here again and I went to two concerts, the first in a number of years. Both were bands I loved in the 70s and 80s, John Mellencamp and Cheap Trick.
I did have day surgery and it's possible i may have more next year but the doc is just keeping an eye on things at the moment. Nothing serious so far *knock on wood* just girly things.
Our trip to Rome in November was great and we had some fun road trips back in the UK with only a few minor frustrations but then in December, my cousin's wife collapsed and later died so the year ended on a sad note.
Got a new laptop for home and travel and got a new one for work as well. Also bought a new camera which had to be replaced a couple of months after purchase. Thanks to the Waranty gods!
I started a travel blog. Continue to be involved in the local and online Coronation Street communities. I read 108 books and didn't finish another 2.

Dec. 31st, 2008 03:43 pmOverall, it was a low key year for the most part, with too many funerals but with some travel to new places, a wonderful memorable trip to London with me mum, a pay raise and a good concert. Still, i probably wouldn't rate the year more than a 4 or 5 due to the first item mentioned.
I went out for some groceries and as expected, the store and parking lot were pretty busy. I noticed a crowd across the road and wondered what that was. I realized they were all in line by a truck selling lobster for $5 a pound. The lobster fishermen have not been doing too well this season. People are not spending and as a result, the price they're getting is really low. The stores aren't even giving them $5 and are selling it for between $8 and $10 so the fishermen are loading up the trucks after the boats come in and driving up to the city, selling it out of their vans and people are buying.
We're supposed to get a blizzard, or at least a good sized snowstorm overnight tonight. I'm home, warm, have tea, bread and most importantly, cookies! I've got the DVD Xpress thingy hooked up to my vcr and have been spooling my old tapes of Corrie episodes from tape to file and then bunging them on dvds. I have figured out the movie editing program that came with it so i can splice out the commercial breaks. The tapes are old so aren't great quality but at least they'll be preserved.
