You may recall me whinging about my dvd player not working right, it wouldn't give up the disk when i'd try to eject it. I also suspect there's another problem as one of my dvds jumped back to the main menu instead of the next chapter. I've been looking at them and comparing them for the last couple of months and most importantly, checking to see if there's a dvd hack so i can play all my region 2 dvds :) I found this one at The Source on their website, checked it wth the dvd hack list i use and sure enough, seems like there's an all-success working decode for it. I went over today and saw that there was another Philips model there, a bit cheaper. It wasn't on their website but what did i do? Rather than take the chance, i bought the more expensive one. I left it there and walked up to Future shop to get a new webcam as they had a good one on sale this weekend. I used a terminal at Future shop and discovered that pretty much all the Philips dvd players have the exact same dvd hack so i could have bought the cheaper one. I thought about it, i almost decided to change it but at the very last minute, when i walked into the store, i chickened out and took the more expensive one home. Mind you it does have some nice features including a usb hub so you can plug in a flash drive or an extrernal hard drive and play movies or photos or mp3s that way. It's also upconverting to HD though i don't have an HD tv. I might some day though. Anyway, It's home, it's connected, it's hacked and ready to go. Don't know what i'm goin gto do with the old player. If i find someone that wants to try to fix it or pay a little money to get it fixed, they can have it.
