Dec. 7th, 2013 08:54 pmI did it. I went to the Seaport market. Left here at 9:30 and got there about 10:30 and it was pretty busy already but probably no worse than most Saturdays. I expect by after noon it would have been twice as bad. Got caught up with <lj user="blueberrymoon"> who is still selling lovely art out of the market. I found the thing I was looking for. Cost a bit more than I usually spend on this person but oh well. Sometimes you just find the best thing and to heck with the cost (well, within reason). Next year it'll be back to the normal price range. I picked up a couple of loaves of nice fresh bread, one a raisin bread and another a cheese and onion which is in the freezer. I went to the little shop that's a butcher shop. THey always have really nice meat and their sausages are amazing. I picked two each of three kinds, one a Danish style which the guy said all the staff loves so I went for it.
I also stopped into Staples on the way back to Dartmouth to get some dvd labels. I always make up some movies for my friend's family. It's tradition now. It used to be VHS tapes but it's dvds now. It's getting harder to pick movies because the youngest are teenagers and not into the animated cartoons like they used to be. They like the action flicks and see quite a few at the movies already. It's harder to find action movies because of the adult content in them. Their ages are 14 and 16 so I still have to be a bit careful what I send. I opt for a mix of family type movies but which aren't too juvenile and may still throw an animated one in there because they're always fun. If i can find a movie that's off the beaten track, even better, like something that might not have been in the theatres here, maybe something from UK, Ireland or Australia or even Canadian movies though that doesn't happen often. Canadian cinema does drama pretty well and quirky character movies but their action flicks and things like crime drama usually leave me as flat as the dialogue and acting.
I have my tree put up and without any major incident this year! Picking at the decorations and it'll be done over the next few days. Going to another smaller market with Mom tomorrow. Also need to go to the post office, picking up and sending out. It's that time of year. This one at least, isn't going to cost me too much. It's light and it's only going to Moncton. Well, I hope it won't anyway.
Mom and I were going to go in together on this big Atlas of Wine book for Staci's fiance. Only after it was dispatched, she told Mom he wouldn't like it so I have to return it. I didn't think letting them take 5 dollars off the cost of the refund was fair so i opted to send it back myself. That's before I realized how big the bastard is! You have to tell them how you're returning it and you get a note to print off to put in the box with it that authorizes them to refund. I had chosen free delivery which takes a few extra days. Perhaps if i'd paid for delivery i might have been able to send it back for free, I don't know. And I took it to the post office yesterday. 15 dollars. Live and learn. Bloody post office. *grumble*
