Jun. 9th, 2014 09:49 amAnother weekend come and gone. Celebrated my nephew's 29th birthday at lunch on Saturday, barbequed burgers and some cake! In my head I don't feel like i should be this old. But these people are still the "kids" in my head even though one's over 30, one's nearly there and the other is 26 and getting *married* this year! She also hopes to be a mom in short order. Gawd!! That's what makes me feel old. That and there are a lot more aches and pains these days! I'd love to be the size I was in my mid thirties. Not thin, I was never that, but much less than now and my back didn't ache or give out on me and i was much more able to do more and go further. My feet weren't in great shape but better than they are now. I don't want to go back to that age, though, not unless i could be making the money I am now. That was a big difference between then and now.
Anyway. It is what it is.
Starting to make lots of notes about wedding things. It will be this time next year, probably in May. Until i have a venue set, I don't like to say for sure what the date is because it could be a moving target depending on when a venue is available. But we do have someone to marry us. I'm pretty sure I have the cake maker sorted and the design that we want is decided, too. That's two things at least. Oh and we're doing our own artwork for the wedding invitations and will do replies by email and phone like my niece did. I have my eye on the dress I think I'll choose as well. The best man is asked and though I haven't asked the woman, I know who i'll want to ask for my matron of honour.
We don't want it cheap but we do want it reasonable as it's not a big white frothy wedding with a church and a dance and a huge list of guests. A photographer won't be cheap but I have a few websites and names of people that I will contact. Some of the ones i've seen online have packages *starting* at $2000 or even $3500 on one site. Good grief! Well.. If I was 25 or 30 years young and planning a huge blow out then that might be more in line with the kind of budget i'd have. I don't have a set budget but it's got to be reasonable. We didn't want a small, private wedding but we don't want to break the bank either.
