Jun. 30th, 2015 09:14 amYou would never know it's nearly July. We get one really perfect day a week it seems, and maybe a couple that are pretty good and then get slammed with a chilly rainy one or two. I know it could be worse and we could be steam baking with high temps and humidity. I think i'm just grumpy because I seem to be cold all the time! The AC at work is chilly and then i go out to catch the bus and it's chilly many days.
Mom's all moved in. The apartment is very nice. Large, too. It's actually a condo that she's renting from the owner. It has dark wood floors and the kitchen is dark countertops and walls but the bedrooms are carpeted with light tan and everything is white walls. Her "den" is actually the second bedroom and it's bright and breezy in there. The balcony seems to block a bit of the breeze coming into the main room. The room that's meant to be the den will be set up as a second bedroom with a single bed and I imagine, used for storage as well. She's got a lovely tall dresser that's going to be mine but i really don't have room for it at the moment. I'm sure i can find a spot but things are crowded enough in my place as it is!
I've changed my name pretty much everywhere, just have to see to the lease for the apartment and my social insurance number. Still waiting for Graham's medical to be scheduled.
The high that flowed through social media last week after the US Supreme Court's decision on same sex marriage seems to be dying down. Who's going to be the first one to change their profile picture back to something non-rainbow? :) I did yesterday because tomorrow is Canada Day and I see many others are popping Canadian flags up. It is a wonderful thing that happened (even if Canada did it 11 years ago!! better late than never, you guys! well done!) and it's interesting to see some of the religious right spouting nonsense. Some of it is just downright ludicrous. To be so tied up and obsessed with anything, religion or otherwise, just seems to be so restricting. Isn't it so much more freeing to feel "if it makes you happy, and it doesn't affect me negatively, go for it". Me, I'm happy to dance at anyone's wedding if invited! And, you know, the cynical side of me reckons that if I had to go through the pain and expense of divorce, why shouldn't everyone? (but never mind, that's ancient history now. Quite happy to be wearing a wedding band again because I found a lovely one this time!) ;) It's all equal opportunity!
