I've never been one to send fan mail or emails. I have gone to book signings and Corrie celeb events in a Squeee fangirl sort of way, but haven't put pen to paper or used up bandwidth to send any letters to favourites of mine. However, last month i did send a message to a chicklit author, Fiona Walker, when i found her website and i just got a message back from her and here it is, typos and all!

Hi Diane,

Many thanks for taking the time to email me via my website mast month - and
many apologies that it has taken me so long to reply.

I'm really chuffed that you have enjoyed reading my books so much,
particularly Snap Happy. Juno is a favourite heroine of mine, being (like
me) a tad more rounded than most. I agree wholeheartedly that we need more
sexy, fat chicks! Watch this space...

Thanks again for making contact.

Best wishes,

Fiona W

Yeah i know, small things thrill me. She's not my all time favourite author but i do enjoy her books.

That was the one with the comediene and the American wasn't it.

Actaully, I didn't really care for it much. Bridget Jones it was not!

Your chick lit compulsion is a never ending source of fascination to me.

*Grin* Surely everyone loves chick lit.

Besides, it helps me understand what women are like... well, more what women would be like if they were nicer, more muddle headed and didn't spend so much time insulting me.

I love chick lit so much! It is so much fun! :)

The world would be a nicer place if all women were like the heroines of chick lit novels. Unless they are by Adele Parks, in which case, definitely not!

*Grin* Will your first novel be too highbrow to be counted as chicklit?

I doubt it very much! It is going to end up with the Georgette Heyers and all the other historical fluff! ;)

Oh and yes, the world might be a nicer place but imagine all the hilarious pratfalls, punchups, hangovers etc. That could be very tiring.

I'd never get into work because I'd been fighting my rival in a restaurant, incapacitated by food poisoning due to hilarious dog-meat mix up, flying to Dubai to rescue heroine's mother from drugs charges, accidentally run down by heroine in freak cycling accident etc etc.

Heh, yes that's true! There would be constant misunderstandings and we would all be troubled by annoying instances of coincidence such as people you are bitching about standing right behind you all the time or unwittingly telling your future boss all about your faked CV when you think you are about to be killed in a plane crash etc.

I wouldn't have a job at all! Too busy buying clothes, hunting for the perfect lipstick, untangling my messy relationships and having lengthy lunches with my other Messy Life Friends.

Agh it's the misunderstandings that drive me nuts! I read books like that and end up shouting at the pages lol

So you're saying that the books dont' really help at all lol

Well, that would be another way of putting it. :-)

It was indeed. No she wasn't Bridget, but then i liked her better. She didn't spend so much time whinging about her weight like Bridgit does. At least i don't remember that she did. She had insecurities but it didn't seem to be the focus of her life.

(grin) I think it was the "comedy misunderstandings" that annoyed me a little.

Yeah i know, but then Brigit Jones is certainly full of that too. I get so annoyed... misunderstanding. yes, but then they carry it for half the book instead of just *asking* yeesh
