Corrie's omnibus today was focused on the death of Dennis Stringer.
Rough go of it today, wasn't it? I'm telling you, Corrie does drama
really well. Even if the storyline itself is over sensationalized, which the story of Janice and Dennis and it's tragic end was not, The corrie writers and actors really pull out all the stops and even the actors that normally stink seem to be able to pull a great performance out of their respective hats. I wish they could do that more often but i digress....
All the hospital scenes were really well done, even those with Les. I can even forgive Bruce Jones' attempts at being emotional. He didn't do too bad for the most part today. They seemed to cut away from him in enough time. Did you notice the body language between Janice and les? Him leaning forward and her turning away, not even able to look at him most of the time. Janice's grief, Eileen's haorror and isolation, Les's guilt. Then there's the spillover to Jason, Todd, Tyrone, Kevin, Toyah and the wooden Sam who found the passion at least to lay into Les over Toyah's worry added to her grief. Rita supporting Janice and Janice and Eileen leaning on their discarded friendship to give Dennis a fitting
funeral... and the handbag for Eileen and the photo for Janice...
perfect touches. Janice said some pretty horrible things to Les, thinks that didn't need saying and things that can't be unsaid or ever forgotten. But also, things that people in excruciating, exquisite and exhausting grief often do. Good Bye Dennis Stringer, i loved ye well.
They've sure found a tiny baby to be Ben. Maybe it's just my long time aversion to Norris colouring my opinion but i don't find Natural Nanny Norris to be funny, amusing or even believable. Loved Betty's comment about Norris the Fairy Godmother. Closer to the truth than i think she realizes. Somewhere Over the Rainbow?? Just goes to prove this storyline is a bit out of this world ;)
Instead of blaming herself for more or less forcing Geena and Dev into eloping, Mama Gregory charges into the china shop as usual. This isn't over, mark my words. That girlfriend of TErry's looks a bit hard faced doesn't she? Probably just his type! LOVED Eve's battle with Betty and Fred and Duggie watching the action, bemused. Matt, get a frigging life! Writers... give us a break PLEEZE! Eve wants to move into the spare room at the Rovers? which one? they have several! Remember, at one time, Raquel, Vicky and i think even someone else was staying there while Bet had the pub. And how smart was that? Giving a man who had just tried suicide a bottle of painkillers? Bright.
Dennis's funeral is this week. CBC isn't showing Corrie Monday and
Tuesday, it's back Wed. with an hour on Friday Check local listings for the real meal deal :) I'm off to sob a little more over Dennis. I'll be fine ;)
