Why is it when i decide to watch a little bit of olympics i hit the worst sports ever. Tae Kwon Do. Really? Although it could have been speed walking i suppose. At least there's a Canadian in it. Two men trying to kick each other in the head. They're covered in upper body padded jackets wired electronically to count the kicks that connect and they're wearing helmets. On one hand i can understand the need for protection but it also seems a bit unchallenging too. Oh and they have some sort of guard over their bare feet as well and the Russian player just got his foot sprayed wtih a numbing spray. The Canadian seems to be chanelling Bruce Lee with the amount of squealing and hollering he's doing. Lots of the kicks seem to be connecting but very few of them actually seem to be scoring points. They're appealing some of the kicks that actually do score saying they didn't connect. Isn't that what those electronic jackets are for? Thing is apparently they only get points if any part of the head is hit. Jesus. It's all very bizarre. Speed walking at least makes more sense.
That's enough for me, I think.

Date: 2012-08-11 01:50 pm (UTC)As the camera switched to the track and field arena, a Special Announcement came on. Special? Hah! Let me just say I do not care about Mitt Romney. Nor do I care that he will announce his running mate on Saturday. Nor do I care that 2 other candidates are disappointed. Nor do I care that Mitt Romney asked his son to tell the two 'losers' that it wasn't them. Nor do I care about any of the other trivia the announcers filled the airwaves with.
I missed the race (which perplexed me because obviously it was a videotape so why didn't the producers just stop the tape until the 'Special Announcement' was over?) so I shut off the TV in disgust. Thanks for letting me vent. :)
