I noticed that the "Enter here" lane at my Starbucks has been adjusted so that you can't have a group of people outside the top of it queuing into the mall leaving the people in the lane stuck there. Now, if there's more than a few people waiting in line, you pretty much have to go through the lane. If you walk in through the front opening and there are too many people, you'll have to go out and around to the lane. Before you could just squeeze in behind them on the outside of the lane "rope". That's what had happened the other day.

Another week down. Four weeks from tonight I'll be on a plane. Yay! The last two days of work I'll be in a training course for MS Access so they'll fly by.

Last year about this time, we were doing training for a programming language called PHP which is geared towards web browser applications. Most of us never used it and us two developers were moved to a new group that will be focussing on reporting and data management rather than the applications we create and/or support. The old applications are slowly being rewritten using PHP but we weren't going to be doing it. Now, however, they can see that they really aren't going to get it done very quickly using a student they had here on work term and have kept on with short term contracts. I said I wouldn't mind picking it up again and doing some so that's what I've been doing this week, trying to get my head around it again and learning it, with help thankfully. I don't expect it will be something I'll do long term but it's nice to get my developer hat on again. I'm starting with a fairly simple application where you enter an address and it displays which district you live in and who your city councilor is.
