Just in the middle of Bill Bryson's In A Sunburned Country. One of the few authors that can make me smother giggles and discreetly wipe away tears of mirth.... on the bus commute to work no less! He seems to be obsessed with the various creatures in Oz that are lethal including this particular snake, by far the swiftest and most venomous on earth, so much so that your last words (and I more or less quote here) are likely to be "I say, isn't that a sn......"
