Why Programmers Go Grey

It is pissing down outside. And really windy. We're getting the tail end of Hurricane Gustav (who gets to name these anyway?) it's blowing against the building and my bedroom curtains got soaked before i got the window shut. We are in the line of the hurricanes as they make their way up the eastern seaboard and off into the north Atlantic so we often do get tail ends of them during the season. Once in awhile we get them bang on though not at the ferocity they get them in the southern US.

The week has been ok. Busy in part. Was at the transit department yesterday, that's like London Transport yeah? busses, the ferries, disabled bus etc. I was doing some work for them and have to go back tomorrow morning so .. ahem, they're sending a car for me :) I *like* working with these guys!

I helped out someone else today with her programming. she had a bug and we tried one thing after another. Then it turned out to be one of those really big DOH things, something we were looking at all that time and never "saw". That's typical with computer programming when you've been looking at it too long. Someone else with fresh eyes can spot the mistake or you stumble across it like i did today. And we both looked at each other and moaned "Oh shit!" Well that's why programmers go grey! :)
