What to do today?

The Air Show is on but i went last year so i don't think i'll bother this year. It's opening is delayed this morning due to a lot of planes stranded at other airports because of the bad weather yesterday. The majority of the planes that are in the ground display have to fly to the airfield at Shearwater air base and be positioned.

The Italian Festival is on this weekend, that's a maybe. All there really is is a few displays but you get to go and eat fabulous food and watch some of the older men play bocci in the yard :)

Dont' think i'll go to another movie this weekend because i have three movies on next weekend, for the Film Festival.

Might go see if i can buy a new black bra but i also could go in the other direction and pick up the tickets for next weekend. Looks like the sky is clearing up and getting nice and blue so i'll have to get out of the house and do something this afternoon even if it's just go to the grocery store for bog roll ;)

Air show's started. The fighter jets are circling over the city. They do flips and tricks over the air field then circle around to come back for another so we get to see them a bit. These are just two. When the precision team Snowbirds come we can get all 10 and then the windows shake in their frames LOL! I LOVE the jets!

Another absolutely sparkling day in Halifax, blue skies with some big puffy clouds. Warm, bit of a breeze. Perfect day for the air show. Could see a few more planes whipping by overheard including the Snowbirds in formation later this aft. I went over to the mall where the Film Festival box office was and finally found it on the third floor. Totally missed the big yellow sign on the main floor and the kid working at the cinema box office didn't know where it was or if it was open. Sheesh. Anyway i picked up my tickets and an insulated coffee mug because i needed a new one anyway. THis one has the logo for the "Al Fresco Film Festo" on it, a summer film festival they've had here over the last few years. There is an old power plant in the south end of Halifax on the waterfront that is now a film production studio and on the outside of it, they've painted a big white movie screen and they show classic movies on selected Friday nights over the summer, movies like Cabaret, Sound of Music, On the Waterfront, that sort of thing. One of these years i'm going to go, i really am!

Dropped into HMV and yes, Chris, i bought those two cd's. Bummer though, i had a cd buyers card where you can buy 10 and get one free. I waited too long. The promotion ended in June!!!! I also picked up the dvd for the Committments. I love that movie and the soundtrack!

Went over to the Daily Grind, a news store that has a very good selection of magazines including imported ones and there's a little cafe in the back of it that has good food, some vegetarian choices, an extensive coffee selection and nice baked goods. I had a bowl of thick tomatoey home made vegetable soup, a streusel muffin and tea for my lunch. Yum! I like this place, the outside of the shop has a mache "statue" of an old fashioned newsboy over the door and inside by the cafe there's a life sized trio of black musicians, i think maybe a Dixieland band is what they're supposed to be. You almost think they're going to actually start playing the instruments! The other really good shop for magazines in Halifax is Atlantic News on Morris and Queen street. I stopped in there to pick up a Toronto Star even if it was from last Saturday. Used to be able to get it same-day late on a Saturday afternoon but i guess their distribution isn't the same people anymore. I like the Saturday Star, there's lots in neat stuff in it and i can take hours to go through it even though i don't even read everything. Doesn't matter if it's last week's news, a lot of the stuff is lifestyle and editorials and all kinds of things so it's not that out of date.

Stopped into a second hand shop to see if i could scout out shoes for my Indian dress. Nothing there but man what a cool shop! I don't remember what it's called, maybe Lady Bountiful? Anyway for locals, it's in the same place as Dio Mio Gelato on Brenton Street in the back of the Credit Union Building across from Park Lane. This shop is like raiding your granny's closet! Lots of vintage clothes, shoes, bags, hats and jewellry. Some really funky stuff though very little of it is my size as far as clothes. Didn't see any shoes quite what i wanted but they did have a lot of cool ones. And hats!!! If you're looking for a vintage hat this is the place to go!

Well i must go immerse myself in the newspaper.

My LiveJournal Sitcom
All My tvor (TNN, 11:00): tvor (Traci Lords) buys sammantha (Kyle Chandler) a gecko. The next day, psychfringe (Michael Jordan) eats stevenothing (Dennis Miller)'s raspberry cheesecake. At the same time, zoo_music_girl (Julia Stiles) discovers that canislupus1 (Sean Hayes) is taking cross-stitch lessons. Nearby, read_rant_rave (Tupac Shakur) teaches kate_r (John Ritter) about ballet. On the other side of town, why_a_duck (Shannon Elizabeth) buys a wheelbarrow from liz_lowlife (Tommy Lee Jones). Wackiness ensues.
What's Your LiveJournal Sitcom? (by rfreebern)

If you keep putting your lj name in over and over it comes up with different combinations of your friends but basically the actors that play your friends stay the same so try it to see who would play you and your friends!

Oh the one thing at the top of my list that i actually forgot to mention......

Yesterday in Starbucks, while i was chatting to [livejournal.com profile] wyndancyr and Mr. Wyn, a magazine title caught my eye over on the racks in Chapters. It intrigued me so much i had to run over and have a look. Yep it really was "Gobshite Quarterly" hahahahahahaha! Turns out, it's a sort of new age political type rant rag.
