Nov. 24th, 2008 02:37 pmAs you know, I belong to several travel-review type sites, the latest being IgoUgo where members can get points for uploading photos, writing reviews and journals and get bonus points for things like being featured in a newsletter. You can then cash in the points for gift certificates for various things. I've used mine for Amazon and Chapters online vouchers. There's a weekly newsletter for members, to point you to their latest blogs, members' journals, photos of the week and travel deal links. Imagine my surprise as i scroll down through this week's newsletter and see my face looking back at me! This is what they had to say:
Congrats are due to tvordj for achieving Top-Rated-journal status for the fifth time this year. In her short time here, she has brought us her deep knowledge of Canada's east. This, her second journal from Nova Scotia, is no exception; thirteen reviews and experiences, along with 43 impressively vibrant and lively photos, round out a great journal that will prove essential to any visitors looking for hotels, restaurants, or things to do in an historic and picturesque corner of Canada.
The journal is Quest for the Cabot Trail. Part of that was featured in one of their blogs just before Halloween, the review about Joe's Scarecrow Village. The blog post had to do with Halloween scarecrows etc. One of my scarecrow photos was featured in the article as well as a short excerpt from the review. Today's newsletter is about Graham's and my recent trip to Cape Breton. The other journal from Nova Scotia is probably my Halifax one which is just basically a bunch of reviews of things to do and restaurants. The other east coast review is one detailing Mom and my trip to PEI a couple of years ago. I've also got travelogue journals and reviews from our trip to London this year, my trip to Paris last year with Graham, Some reviews from Cobh, Ireland, and another one similar to the Halifax one but for Manchester, i.e. not a travelogue as such, just things to do, restaurants, transport.
Anyway yes.
Unexpected to say the least and i'm tickled to bits. All my journals there can be found here. The links on the side have reviews that aren't necessarily in a journal, and there are links to the photos though many of those you'll have seen before if you've been following my LJ.
