Journey to Work
Apr. 14th, 2004 07:43 amIt's really foggy out these past few days. When you're on the bridge on the bus, you can't see anything while driving over the harbour until you hit land, and then everything below you is softened and muted by gray mist. It's going to rain a lot over the next few days which will get rid of the last vestiges of dirt encrusted ice.
The bus wasn't that full today when i got on and got a window seat which is rare. Conversely, at the bridge terminal, they packed the bus with people. Just as that thought crossed my mind, the lady sitting next to me voiced the exact same thing. We commiserated.
Walking into the little mall in the building where i work, there was a young black man walking, no, striding through the mall waving his arms. He looked to be dressed for work although still had baggy jeans on. But nice shoes and a proper shirt under his parka, i think. I realized he was rapping to himself, not loudly, and i heard words, something about respect. It made me smile the same way you do when you see someone walking down the street singing.
Which was nice because the muzak in the mall was particularly obnoxious this morning.
Tim Horton's was really busy as usual, people queued up in three neat lines right out to the mall. I breezed into Second Cup and out again. Nice.
There's a daycare in the same tower where i work, one floor below me so you usually see little ones in the mall in the morning, whirling with energy or sagging with sleep in their eyes. Guess even among the day care set there are morning people and some that hate to get up that early. One little fellow, usually full of beans in the morning, got on the elevator (along with his mum of course) and was priviledged to press the button for the floor. They all like to do that. They don't always get it right but this one did and he wanted to "pet tee" (press 3) as well as his floor (2) so he did. It happens to be my floor and even though i had already triggered the button, i thanked him.
Must remember to go over to Blue Cross today even if it rains. I need the refund from the chiropractic stuff to pay the dentist LOL There was apparently a little bit that the insurance didn't cover over and above what i had already paid them. Happens sometimes.
