Little triumphs
Mar. 15th, 2005 02:43 pmJava is going better, thanks for asking. Head above water but still in the deep end. Expect that won't change for awhile as it takes a long time to get comfortable with it. But there *is* progress.
I learned how to make an image map. You know, where you have one picture or graphic on a web page and click different parts of it to link to different pages. Am figuring out stylesheets (cause i need to use them for the java web applications) as well. If you don't know what i'm talking about, don't worry ... but it's made me smile today :)
Bought a couple of books today, Princes of Ireland by Edward Rutherford (he of Sarum and London fame among others). It's about the history of Ireland, the Dublin Saga, but it stops in 1538. To be continued. The other book is The Poisonwood Bible, by Barbara Kingsolver. I'd heard it was good and only just realized it was an Oprah bookclub book. Hmm... I don't usually like her choices so we'll see. anyone read it? Have just finished Vanity Fair, by Thackery and liked it and am reading Chicken Soup for the Sisters' soul. I shouldn't be reading it on the bus because it is full of short essays that can be very emotionally tugging.
