Hmmm I may have a result
Jan. 5th, 2006 12:28 pmOn that last post about the hotel cancellation fees. I didn't think that i had anything in writing from them but oooh looky what i found. An email from them stating:
Further to our telephone conversation today, I have pleasure
> in confirming
> your reservation for twin room (as kingsize) en-suite arriving
> on Friday,
> 30th December 2005 and departing on Sunday, 1st January 2006.
> The cost will
> be £35 per person per night including breakfast - total cost
> £140.
As discussed on the phone, in the case of exceptional
> circumstances, such as
> snow delaying your flight, we would be prepared to waive the
> cancellation
> policy and only a charge a 10% administration cost.
I forwarded that to her and i also rang her on the phone and told her of it. She tried to say that it had to do with the weather but i pointed out, rather tearfully, that this was a bit more of an exceptional circumstance than snow. I understood that they have a business to run and i understood that they actually lost more money by turning away a family that wanted a longer booking because we'd already booked and possibly we could even meet somewhere in the middle between 10 and 60%. She said she'd look into it and get back to me, rather hurriedly rushed me off the phone i felt but i was a bit upset. Maybe she's going to back down a little. Hope so.
