Strike One
Aug. 20th, 2007 08:12 amYeah. So Metro Transit now has a strike mandate. That doesn't mean they're on strike, just that 98% of the union voted to reject the contract offer. They are still going to be negotiating apparently but they have the mandate and can always use it when they want. I think they have to give 48 hours notice. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. I guess i'll have to see if i can sort out a car pool. Then there's the potential Jury Duty. I have to report to the court on Sept. 4. If the transit is on strike and i'm in a car pool, that could restrict my attendance if it goes later then whenever my ride leaves. THey do pay a daily stipend but i don't know if you get it each day or at the end of the trial. The stipend would probably be enough to pay for cabs home if i can get in with someone in the morning. But cabs on a traffic clogged bridge isn't going to be pretty or cheap either.
