Dec. 20th, 2010 02:20 pmMy eReader (Kobo) is officially mine now as of last night :)) I've charged it and put a couple of ebooks on it. I even bought one from the Kobo site as i'd had my eye on it awhile (Fall of Giants by Ken Follett). worked out more or less how you get books on it. Easiest thing is to drag and drop after hooking it up as a detachable drive but i've also used Adobe Digital Editions. It seems like you would then need to eject it before it will then look for new content. Possibly power off and on again. Not that big a deal. I have to play with it a bit more, though. I am not bringing it to work yet because i'm hoping to get a case for it for Christmas and if Santa hasn't brought me one, i'll pick one up. Safer to have it in one when it's knocking about in my bag or purse.
I'm spoiled for choice too, since i have all those downloaded ebooks plus looking on the kobobooks site, i see things i'd like as well so have saved them for future reference. They also have some really cheap books too, so i may not go broke lol I'll have to work out a system. Read one or two that i already have in the library, then buy one or two and alternate this. I don't expect to never buy another actual book again, there's always going to be some that aren't yet available on Kobo or at the library but as the years go on, more and more will be available in electronic formats as well as paper. I do love to read but i'm not one of those people that loves to hold a book and loves the feel and smell of them. I don't mind, it's not that i don't like to hold a book, it's just not something that enthralls me usually. I hold a book because that's what you do to read it. I wouldn't read a book on the computer screen but on the ereader, it's just fine.
One of my coworkers has a little pocket ereader by Sony and he's got special fonts loaded on it because he also gets Chinese ebooks.
