Oct. 23rd, 2012 02:22 pmThe election is done and dusted for another 4 years, barring any by-elections that might crop up but they're usually much less painful. There will be lessons learned on this one though the IT team performed up to our usual high standard.
Now I can concentrate on getting my new work laptop sorted out or at least a good ways towards it. I need to get the admin permissions set up because right now i can't even drop an unwanted MS Powerpoint shortcut into the trash without it let alone map a network drive or install anything non standard. Stupid. I did at least get most of my documents copied over and my browser shortcuts.
Finished reading Cloud Atlas though not sure I'll get a chance to go see the movie before I go away. It opens this weekend. I liked most of the book though the first era of the six it covers wasn't my favourite and i struggled through that to get through the others. The first six parts set everything up and the last six parts developed the "reincarnation" type of ideas more and it was very neat to follow.
This weekend is focussed on getting most stuff packed, doing laundry, gathering stuff. I've bought everything I needed to but still have some other things to do before packing some items. (wrap Christmas pressies, for example). I also need to book the tickets for the Vatican and the Colosseum. Worst case scenario, i forget, but it's not as if we can't queue for them. Saves time doing it online, though.
Going to see Looper tonight with a couple of friends. A time travel kind of thing where time travel is illegal but the mob uses it to send their hits into the past where they have a hit man waiting to kill the guy but then they send the future hitman back so the guy in the past can kill his future self.
