The doctor joked last week that i wouldn't have to see her again after this week unless I came unraveled. She shouldn't have mentioned it! Saturday night, I went to use the toilet and put my hand on my belly as I sat down. It came away bloody! Eek! A small part of the incision had come open! I finished my business and cleaned up. It looked like it had already stopped bleeding for the most part so I don't think it had done so for very long. I used steri-strips and stuck it back together and put gauze over it and waited to see what was going to happen. Yes, it freaked me out a bit but it seemed like it was ok, no more blood, just some drainage which is different and something it needs to do. It had done the same thing when it was a fresh incision. Sunday I was unsure about what to do. It still seemed ok, but in the end i did go to a walk in clinic to have a doctor eyeball it. He did say it was ok, the drainage was a good thing, no further action required. I have been doing the same thing, keeping it covered and closed as best I can all week. He did give me another set of antibiotics as the last ones were done. I am seeing my GP on Thursday anyway so very likely I'll have to see her again next week as well to check up on this. Sheesh! Talk about feeling like one step or two back! The on-call doctor did say it happens often but it didnt' make me feel any better!
I've been getting out for short walks this week, too. My heavens, my hips feel so tight when i start out. It's only been three weeks since i've exercised, well, a bit more i guess but not much more but i'm sitting or laying a lot. I only go a short distance, just around the block and my hips feel looser and better by about half way around but after 10 minutes or so, I feel like i used to after 45! Baby steps.
