Oct. 2nd, 2015 09:41 amYep, we did have quite a good windy and rainy day yesterday and because I was forewarned, I put a big plastic container on the top shelf in my cupboard. Remember that crack in the ceiling? It's back. Well, it was back over the past winter and they fixed the roof then but I forgot to follow up and have them re-patch the crack. The roof is obviously leaking again and the water is dripping through the crack. I spoke to the building manager this morning who told me they were just up there recently fixing leaks though not on my side of the building so he was glad I called. He's going to have to call them back again and will check in my place and have a look at the ceiling as well. They can't really plaster over it until they know the roof is fixed. If, during another rainstorm, it doesn't leak, then they can plaster over it.
Thing is, it's always going to be a weak spot. A trowel of plaster or whatever they use to fill it in isn't going to be a permanent fix if the roof starts leaking again. It's obviously a weak spot when the rain comes down through the walls. The person in the apartment over me doesn't have any problems and she's on the top floor. I suppose if there hadn't been a crack in the ceiling, I would never have had any problems either, the water would have gone looking for a weak spot somewhere else. I think it also might come through the vent in the ceiling in the bathroom a little as well. The vent is right over the toilet and i noticed the seat was a little wet as well. I forgot to mention that to him but i suppose it's all coming due to the same leaky spot in the roof.
I've really got to get a handle on the clutter in my apartment. IT's always worse after a trip. The suitcase is still on the floor in the bedroom and various bits are on the coffee table. I have two new things to find a spot for on the walls, gifts from the UK wedding. Graham had given me a 45 record framed, of "our song" and that's on the wall so i might put these beside it. I also have to find a place for the large multi-frame that our wedding photos will be in. I have some of the enlargements for it and need to get a couple more from the UK party. Might try to put the photos in for printing for that and the wedding album this weekend if i can get out. note to self, call Mother, we can go to Costco and the grocery store as well.
