The Weather Outside is Frightful

Yeesh. clouds, fog, rain forecast for the next few days. I shall pray to the weather gods for sun on the weekend for my road trip to Digby (The Scallop Capital of the World!) with my sister,
sammantha. It's an old town, settled by the Loyalists after the American Revolution, situated on the Bay Of Fundy where the highest tides in the world swoosh back and forth. I want to see some of the town, the waterfront, any little historic sites, and have scallops! There's a local museum, an Anglican church built by shipwrights, a waterfront boardwalk, and hopefully lots of little craft shops though i understand nearby Bear River has lots of those as well. We're driving down Saturday morning and coming back Sunday afternoon.
The week will be a short one as i have Friday off. probably try to get out to visit Dad and see if Mom needs anything doing. Have done another painting on the weekend so will post that soon. Am slowly getting over my mindset that the painting *has* to look just like the photo because of course it doesn't. It's all interpretation. After a few months of not doing any, i'm now seemingly on a roll. I keep doing paintings with green in them though, grass and fields and trees and the like. Suppose that's inevitable if i will insist on doing scenery but i think the next one will have some blue sky/water in it just for a change :)
i've been messing around with my journal style and colours lately, trying some of the new stylesheets and things. I think i may have finally decided on this one. The one i was using there for a few weeks was good but there were no "edit" icons on my posts and my friends colours assigned did not show up around the friend userpics which i like because when i'm scrolling down i can identify a user even if the icon isn't their usual standard userpic. Do you all change the background colours around friend userpics or just leave them white? (A block of colour appears around the userpic on my friends view, you can assign it as a background colour on "my friends", in case you aren't familiar) I leave communities white and anyone that has a photo blog gets the same colour as the one i've assigned to their userpic. I try not to use the same colours for people that post often. So far, my flist is managable on that score. In a little over 3 years i've only accumulated about 55 on my flist and a half dozen communities and it's not too difficult to keep up with. I had someone that friended me once that had a list of 6 or 800 or some ungodly amount. She used a lot of filters, needless to say. I only have filters set up for custom posting and i don't use them that often. Am very glad the function is there though. Can be useful for things like women-only, or local lj folk only or asking questions to UK people for travel purposes.
Anyway, this is getting long and if i rattle on any more i'll have to cut-tag it so i'll stop now.
That is all.
for now ;)
