Oh FFS!! There was a phone message when i got home yesterday. From the man that signed my passport. He said they called his house and left a message which he didn't get right away and now has lost the number to call them back. So i emailed it to him this morning and i'll probably call Passport Canada to let them know to call him back if he doesn't get hold of them first.

This is becoming a farce and it's all my fault. I knew the man was moving out of town, WHY did I get him to be the guarantor? Why??? Passport Canada told me they'd try to get hold of him for 10 business days before telling me to start over. You just *know* what's going to happen here don't you? Agghhhh!

Well i spoke to the fellow at PC and he said they do keep trying to reach the guarantor and my application hadn't been sent back yet so that's always a good sign. I won't relax until i get it in my hot little hands lol I'm glad i started the process now instead of in December though.

I'm surprised they are even trying to reach your guarantor. I don't recall that ever happening when I've renewed a passport. Is it a random thing or what?

Oh, and on the subject of passports, we finalized our Fiji trip yesterday and the travel agent (out of New Zealand) informed us that we had to ensure our passports were valid for at least 3 months AFTER our trip. Umm...we leave in 10 days. Thank GOD we renewed last spring - otherwise we'd be screwed!!! (But what I can't figure out is why she informed us of this AFTER confirming our reservation and charging our visa card!)

Oh yes, i knew that. That's why i'm renewing it now. It expires the end of January, 2 weeks after my scheduled return date from the UK. I knew i'd have trouble if i tried to travel at the end of December with a passport that expired a month later.

It must be. I didn't think they did it either which is probably why i didn't think twice about getting him to sign it knowing he was moving. Also new since the last time i renewed, they ask for two other references that are not family members. Don't know if they contact them as well. The references don't have to sign anything.
