Java geeking is making my hair grey.
Beautiful day. sunny and warm. Downtown is starting to hot up in other ways too, getting ready to host the Canadian music industry awards, the Junos this weekend. Lots of stuff going on around town including an outdoor concert by various bands after work tomorrow from 5:30 to 11 in the Grand Parade square. Most seem to be east coast artists in that one. Most of them i've heard of but have no idea what they sing. (The Trews, Joel Plaskett Emergency, Matt Mason (son of blues artist Dutch Mason), Jimmy Rankin whom i do know. I thought about going to see some of it but the crowds always put me off. I'll probably go to the gym after work instead. Might be less of a crowd !
My friend Tracey's birthday today :) She's going to be a volunteer seat filler at the Junos. If anyone gets up to pick up an award or goes to the toilet, she's one of the ones that sits in their seat so that when the camera pans the audience, there is not an empty seat showing. She says that so far, volunteering has cost her $140 for some new clothes. She was told "Rock casual" but that doesn't mean jeans and a tshirt.
On a more interesting note, i got an email from a freelance writer week before last. She is writing an article on Coronation Street for Reader's Digest. She saw my webpage about the celeb visit to Halifax this year and emailed me. She first thought she might want to use some of the quotes and also wanted to talk to me about the fan base in Halifax. She was in England at the time and did get to interview a few of the actors including two that had come to Canada and Halifax in the past couple of years so in the end, she emailed me with some questions and asked if i could send a couple of pictures. Thus i sent her a long email and a couple of photos that she said would be credited to me. I hope she tells me when it will be published though i don't expect it for a few months. It's not about *me*, and of all the stuff i emailed her, i'll probably be lucky if she uses a sentence. Doesn't matter though. :)))
