tvordlj: (Doctor Who Specs)

You know these days when you travel by air, you have to have tiny bottles of anything even remotely liquid including toothpaste. Small travel sized tubes of toothpaste are very expensive for what you get and not refillable. Until now. Here's a Youtube demonstration on how to refill one of those small tubes from a large one using a small piece of vinyl tubing. *Very* useful to know. It does use non-metric measurement so for the 5/8" tube with a 1/2" in inside diameter he talks about, it measures out about 15mm or 1.5 cm. with an inside measurement of 12 or 13 mm from what i can tell but a hardware store should be able to convert it more accurately anyway if there's a need.

Doctor Who, the second of the two parter was quite good though if you were being attacked by a straw filled scarecrow army, why wouldn't you just fire bomb the fuckers instead of shooting them with a gatling gun and how would that stop them anyway? It was quite good otherwise, though, with yet another side of the Doctor revealed in his "human" side. I did wonder though. If he had to be painfully transformed into a human by that head gear thingy, how come just holding and opening the watch could change him back, seemingly without pain since he first took the watch and flickered in and out of Doctor-dom. We didn't see the actual changeover when he opened the watch but presumably it wasn't screaming agony like the Doctor to human change was. I also wondered why he didn't feel anything at all when the lad, Tim, opened the watch those times? I expect it was because he didn't have it in his hands but it seemed odd that he wouldn't have sensed something at least. Did we not see him pick up the watch in his room in part one? I'd have to watch that again and see. Martha actually told the Doctor she loved him *and* it seems he remembered it after, if the embarassed "oh i didn't mean it" exchange was anything to go by. He's not going to have the same feelings for her, i don't think, too soon after Rose for one thing. Still, it *is* refreshing not to have them giggling with their heads together all the time like he and Rose did. Overall, a very good two parter. Certainly kept my interest. And the scarecrows were creepy with the Family echoing the tilty head bits. Nice touch.

Although we know this Mr. Saxon thread is going to continue through the series to the end, it's nice that it isn't thrown at us in every single episode like Bad Wolf and Torchwood pretty much was.
