Mom wanted to see the new Star Trek movie so I said I'd go. It was much better to see it on a normal screen sitting at a normal distance. I enjoyed the interplay between the characters and the visuals much better this time around! I'm still not sold on the Spock/Uhura thing and the camera work still had that hand held feel a lot of the time which annoys me and makes it harder to watch but it's a good movie and the timeline/reality change thing doesn't really bother me that much. Graham was surprised that Mom wanted to see it. She's not a Trekkie but loved the first "classic" series and the characters. She loved the movie and is looking forward to the next one if they do one with this cast. I'm sure they will.  We had a pizza afterwards and I stayed over at hers since Justin is out of town. He and hmmm at least one friend, not sure how many of them went, drove to Toronto for Pride week. I'm sure he's going to have a blast.

We went to Chapters on the way home. I almost never get out of there without buying something! I did get a Montreal travel guide though, so that's good. I'm going to end up having as many of them as there are in the bookstores at this rate. most of the places that i buy the guidebooks for are places i may never get back to but the books are always so nice to look at even after a trip. This one on Montreal is just a small one, similar to one of the ones i got for Amsterdam. It's just the right size for a one-city thing. We still haven't decided where we'll stay but since it looks like we may be there five nights, we are leaning towards a suite hotel where we can have stuff in for our own breakfasts and the occasional meal at night, store some pop and maybe some wine or beer as well.

J and I went to see Star Trek this evening as well. We both liked it a lot and I look forward to seeing any further films. :)

We saw it on IMAX in manchester, thinking it would be really good. We were sitting too close so we didn't enjoy it as much but now seeing it again, i'm not that sure it would have been as good on Imax as some. Maybe though.

I took mum to see it too and she really enjoyed it, not being a trekkie at all!

I must ask Malc about going again, but on a smaller screen.

So the Montreal book, you started telling me on the phone but as usual my ears let me down. Give me more info later in msn. ;p)

I thought it was the phone battery that let you down

The battery did cut us short but this phone line is crap anyway. It's always so quiet and buzzy even on a good day. It isn't my ears because when I use my mobile it's clear and loud.
