Moxie Roller

Went to a lovely meal at Moxie's with my friend Denise. A late birthday dinner for her. She'd been away working for most of the summer so we hadn't connected last month when her birthday was. She and her husband have booked a river cruise around the Netherlands and northern Belgium for next spring!! I bought her a travel guide book for the area and one for Amsterdam as they'll have a few days there as well. We just missed prime tulip season in early May but they'll be there in April in the thick of it!! They got a really great deal booking this early, with a 2 for 1 price on the cruise and a good deal on the air fare as well though will have to go up to Toronto the day before but then it's a direct flight into Schipol airport. We went to Moxies about 5 pm. You'd think it would be pretty quiet on a Monday night but it was full and fuller still when we left, with people waiting to be seated!
We both had steak. I wanted a marinated garlicy one but they were out so i had the peppercorn steak instead which was still good. Steamed broccoli and a stuffed baked potato. Nom! We had sinful desserts too. Mine had soft banana cheesecake filling in a pastry shell that had cinnamon sprinkled over it with caramel and chocolate sauce sworls. And ice cream of course. Lovely but i'm so full! I don't often have steak as i don't usually buy it. It's so expensive to buy just for one person. Not that i can't afford it but it just seems extravagant. Plus i really don't have the talent or the patience to cook it really nicely and i don't have a barbequeue. I used to have a portable one but i never bothered with it so i got rid of it. I would use one more if i was cooking for two so eventually i expect i'll have one.
