That meme that goes around LJ every year....

1. What did you do in 2014 that you'd never done before?

Attended a modern dance thing. Is it a recital? a gig? Was given free tickets so my mom and I went. We liked it but probably not something either of us would really get into.
And... and... I saw Queen in concert!!!!

2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Same as always, try new things.  I always manage to try or do or go somewhere new.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Most of my friends, and family members are having grandchildren! At least one cousin had a new grandbaby this year.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
Yes. Graham's dear dad passed in April.

5. What countries did you visit?
England in spring,  USA in the fall.

6. What would you like to have in 2015 that you lacked in 2014?
A husband ;)

7. What date from 2014 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Easter Monday April 21, the day Graham's dad Bill died. Also the day I got home from the UK.
July 14, the day of the Queen gig

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Deciding on where to have our wedding.

9. What was your biggest failure?
not being very good going to the gym lately.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
nope

11. What was the best thing you bought?
GPS. It was good to have on our road trips

12. Where did most of your money go?
Travel, Wedding planning

13. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Finding the perfect wedding band, red shoes and blue wedding dress!
Seeing Queen (+Adam Lambert) in July

14. What song will always remind you of 2014?
Anything Alice Cooper. We always seem to play him on our road trips

15. Compared to this time last year, are you richer or poorer?
A little richer I think.

16. What do you wish you'd done more of?
going to the gym

17. What do you wish you'd done less of?
being lazy

18. How will you be spending Christmas?
With family

19. Did you fall in love in 2014?
No, still in love!

20. What was your favourite TV program?
Very difficult to pick just one. Coronation Street, Doctor Who, Grimm, Game of Thrones, Outlander

21. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
There's one person that annoys the hell out of me, but it's not hate.

22. What was the best book you read?
Written in my Own Heart's Blood - Diana Gabaldon

23. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Kongos

24. What did you want and get?
A wedding date (May 9, 2015)

25. What did you want and not get?
Can't think of anything

26. What was your favourite film of this year?
hmmm Of the ones i saw in the theatre, Grand Budapest Hotel

27. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Would have been a shared family get together with my nephew whose birthday is the week before mine. Turned 55. Gah!

28. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Retirement

29. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2014?
It's not really a concept. Does it fit? sorted.

30. What kept you sane?
My family and my fella.

31. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Still think Clive Owen is rather gorgeous

32. What political issue stirred you the most?
Can't say there was one this year

33. Who did you miss?
All those that have passed.

34. Who was the best new person you met?
My new manager is going to work out just fine

Sometimes the fates have other plans for you.

I don't think so. The band is a group of brothers I think, from South Africa. The hit "Come With Me Now" is my new favourite.

I wondered since it's not a common name. I have 2 of his albums. "He's Gonna Step on you Again" was a big hit in the US in the early 1970s.

I'd never heard of the name before this. Perhaps it wasn't that big a hit in Canada back then or else i just don't remember.

Not as keen on that one. Kongos has some catchy stuff and they use an accordion that gives it a nice alternative sound as well. Sounds to my undeducated ear that in both, father's and sons' music the beat is a bit different or maybe I just *think* it sounds South African because I know that's their roots.
