Bloody rain! Looks like we aren't allowed to have more than one nice day in 14!!!

After a recent discussion about the terms "faffing around" and "pants" i thought i'd make a note of some other expressions, mainly gleaned from Coronation Street and a few of my friends from various parts of the UK.

Blagging.... like bullshitting. i.e. To Blag a discount off a shopkeeper
Skiving .... being lazy when you should be working or doing something productive, i.e. to skive off work
Gobsmacked. .... Shocked, incredulous, i.e. your 45 year old best friend says she's pregant. You're gobsmacked.
Pillock/wazzock/prat/muppet ... idiot, dolt, loser, .... i.e. Do something stupid and you say "i'm such a stupid prat" "Dozy Pillock" is calling someone a stupid idiot.
Stroppy/have a strop ... tempremental, cranky ... i.e. we might say "hissy fit" or "coniption fit"
throw a wobbler ... upset, i.e. you are 45 and find out you're pregnant and you throw a wobbler LOL
natter ... conversation about this and that... i.e. having a natter over a coffee with your mates
come on through ... invite to come right into the house or room instead of standing at the doorway.
on yer bike ... go away, you bother me
Get your skates on ... hurry up

Feel free to correct, further define, add to and comment :)

I think its more usually "throw a wobbly", but it's the sort of thing that could get altered in use.

Ah well that could be me not hearing through the Northern Accent correctly. As used as i am to watching Corrie there's still the odd thing that doesn't quite get through. :)
