Two kinds of music ... Country AND Western
Aug. 6th, 2003 07:40 pmJust spent awhile downloading a bunch of music. Chris was directing me to a couple of (ahem) Johnny Cash tunes last night and a couple by some bloke name of Wayne the Train Hancock. See, i was mourning the passing of true classic traditional country music. Don't want no crossover "new" country which is only called country cause it's recorded in Nashville and the singers wear jeans and hats as a token nod to their "roots" most of which are black on blonde or red from what i can see.
But i digress....
So i found the two Johnny Cash tunes and two of the Hancock tunes. Wayne Hancock sounds like he could be singing right alongside of Hank Sr. and Little Jimmy Dickens, his voice is so trad. Johnny Cash is Johnny Cash. That voice never changes. This all led me to a marathon download session of Hank Sr. and Jr. and a few other traditional artists and/or songs. Now some of Hank Jr.'s stuff is more rock and roll than country but i can weed out that stuff. And well...Hank Sr. just RULES...If i'm in the mood for it which i am tonight for some reason.
