Weekends are for .....

tvordljThe weekend was rather nice really. Friday the sun was shining and the breeze was cool. I went to the Clay Cafe to paint a mug to take to Ontario when i go next month as a gift for a pal. Met up with a woman who used to work with me and is living in Florida now. She came back to see her Dad and catch up with old friends. We did the rounds at work which was quiet, Not a lot of people around between holidays and Friday skiving off early. We then went to the Lower Deck and sat outside on the patio for a few bevvies. We had food and a few other co-workers and former coworkers came to say hi.
The others didn't stay too long so Darlene and I headed to the next pub, my favourite in downtown Halifax, the Split Crow. We stay there the rest of the evening talking and catching up. The band was the usual Irish type that's very popular in pubs locally and they weren't too bad. I listened to her talk about her life in Florida, Fort "Liquordale" (Lauderdale) and my impressions received from the occaisional email were confirmed. She is a serial dater. Seems to like to get around that's for sure and she is involved with a lot of activities. Sounds like fun but she's determined to stay single and free after a nasty divorce a few years ago and she's taking full advantage of it i tell you.
Saturday i went to visit my parents because my aunt and uncle from the west coast were visiting. My sister and niece came as well. My niece is 14 and most definitely not a little girl anymore. We get along pretty good. I've promised her i'll take her to London someday and i think she's planning on holding me to it!
Today i went to see a new friend that i met on a travel mailing list. She is trying to put together a website for her travelogues and photos and had emailed me for some advice. I told her i would help her if she wanted so i went over and spent a few hours going over the basics. I use Netscape Composer though i do know a bit of html but i'd rather just do it the easy way. I can jump into the source code if i need to untangle a snarl. She thought it was so much easier than battling with the html when she wasn't familiar at all with it. Installed a little picture viewer/editor called Irfanview (handy for sorting out photos for her web page) and we did accomplish a lot. She needs to sit down and play with it and experiment now but she's full of ideas and her imagination is sparked. That's the main thing! She and her husband treated me to a meal out at a local brew pub afterwards and we talked travel for a few hours :)
And now it's Sunday night and i have to go back to work tomorrow. But i'm only there a week and off on a week's holiday during which i'm going to Ontario for a few days. Yay!
