Coronation Street notes for the week, more later on my day. I'm planning to go to the "Chicken and Goat" Festival and do the annual bridge walk as well.
Line of the Day: Ken to Blanche re her new boyfriend "You meet at the cemetery? Is he alive???"
Aside from a couple of storylines that nearly make me lose my breakfast, Corrie is really getting better. Lots of great lines, scenes. Not a lot of actual storyline movement for the most part, today was more about individual scenes and anecdotes. Things being put in place for the future.
So... Duggie's funeral was today but we only saw the wake after. Tom
didn't come and doesn't want anything to do with it. But i'll bet he'll
keep the money! Why would Richard be relieved that Tom isn't returning
to claim the inheritance? If the lawyer thinks there's something fishy
it won't matter where Tom is or isn't. And surely Duggie's lawyer is
aware that Duggie sold the pub and should have the proceeds somewhere?
And how long is Richard going to go around with a haunted look? Oh just
until he gets to be step dad... chasing teens out of the empty house
next door. Stupid kids! I'm surprised at Todd, he's usually a do the
right thing lad. Found a conscience after they got busted but it's still
a bit out of character. Then again, i guess most people can't resist the
steamroller that is Candice. I thought Richard would have been able to
see the baby in the stroller through the window though, and the teens
didn't think anyone knew they were there? It was dark out, the lights
were on!!! Duh! Not to mention the noise. Did you see Bethany wave to
Todd when SL rolled her out of the house? Awww! So... Candice is bored
at school holidays and decides to sit in the Ramsden's house being bored
instead? Smart. and Stubborn.
Party stuff: I still can't get used to Ken and Mike being friends LOL
love the way they tease each other now with pretend animosity! Nice
surprise that Adam came. I think my favourite scene was the one of the
four men talking about how they have become their fathers. Corr i need a
drink sez Mike. "So do i" say the rest in horror! :) Good Lord, i see
the Kabin Tardis has taken over Number 1!!! Deirdre said there was 19
people there and rarely did we see anyone in the front room which made a
rare appearance. Plus there was room for dancing along with the buffet
table (dining table shoved over from the center of the room) Now if that
was here, at least a third of them would have been in that tiny kitchen!
(Kitchen Party!!!!) Didn't it look like there was sooooo much room in
the house? Seems like Deirdre is finally accepted her life and Ken for
the comfort, contentment and security it provides her. I liked the
scenes with her and Dev out back. She sure put him in his place. Not
sure yet what i think of Archie though he does know how to find the
right words to say when need be (talking to Audrey about Alf). Guess
that comes with the job. I think i may end up siding with Vera, she
didnt' think much of him did she? LOL! Sizing folk up was funny but i
think it could be in danger of becoming a "beating a dead horse" kind
of one-joke wonder. We'll see. One thing's for sure, his antique hearse
beats the crap out of a brand new mini-van! Very cool!
I think it was very mean of Deirdre to assume that Blanche was
interfering by sending another valentine card and then ripping it up. I
like the idea of sending valentines cards from anonymous sources. That
actually would be kind of fun but i also think the rest of the
Valentine's tradition far too overblown and commercialized these days.
Puts a lot of pressure on couples to "perform" and makes the rest of us
singles feel inadequate. I loved Shelley and Peter's little dust up over
the ...er.. dusting LOL Who would have thought Peter was a cleaning
freak! But it's such a "real" scene! Right Fiz, don't let a funeral or a
boyfriend stop you fondling rugby thighs! Notice David's voice seems to
be getting a bit deeper? I laughed at him bouncing around the street on
that balloon thingo.. he's so tall for it that his bum was nearly
hitting the cobbles on every bounce!
Les is actually not giving Toyah a hard time about moving in with her
mother? Being supportive???? Guess that carbon monoxide did have lasting
effects only at least this time around it's deadened the bad brain cells
and energized the good ones. With Rita it had the opposite effect,
pushing her into a near marraige with Alec Gilroy! Loved Les's plastic
snakeskin jacket though! To borrow a phrase from a former ratucs Corrie
Updater, he's definitely won the Glamour Tiara for the week!
Flaming Jason, get in a snit with Maria and shag Candice to get back at
her. He must be taking a leaf out of Linda's book! Ken returned from his
interview in the dark, must have been a marathon one! What can i say
about Vik's affair with Hazel (without losing my lunch that is). If
Steve wasn't so much into watching the fur fly, i would think he should
have warned Vik about the surprise party. Why do i get the feeling it's
going to be more of a surprise for Bobbi than for Vik? Stay tuned....
