A couple of lines today but the one that made me laugh out loud was from Emily after suffering Blanche's morbid funeral talk, "Have you put it in your will? That you want it to rain?" Only Blanche could be so excited over the beauty, dignity, Archie's 3 for 2 sale (it doesn't bear thinking about) and wide assortment of funereal accessories! Also, from Fred regarding Roy's eloquent poster "He's a one for crossing his t's and dotting his i's is Roy" and lastly from Kirk who had been out in a dingy in the sun as a child "Mum said she wondered me brain hasn't been frazzled" Erm. If his mother can't tell .... what must she be like?????

Eastenders

I have to say though, i've been watching Eastenders on BBC Canada for almost a year. The timeline is about a year behind the UK and i'm trying very hard not to do "spoilers" like i do with Corrie. EE has stunned me, floored me and impressed me in the last few months especially. The latest was the episodes where Zoe found out her sister Kat was her mother and her uncle Harry was her father. BBC CA only shows three a week and sometimes cuts hour long eps in half so having the weekly omnibus end with Zoe screaming for help over Kat's unconsious body left me breathless!

Other recent less grim storylines were Steve's attempt at robbing some bloke in a factory and having to cut a deal with the bloke's ex. She ripped him off but then split the money with him after all. The episode where Steve confronted his mother and then she died with it all ending with the fire at e20 and Mel's leaving was really good too. I know some of the major storylines coming up because i was still looking ahead at the UK spoilers but even knowing what's going to happen never seems to take away from the very impressive writing and acting i've been seeing. It doesn't tell me the twists and turns the plots take, they are brilliant at that. It's casting quite a shadow over Corrie and it's no wonder EE is winning all the awards. Corrie has some stunning actors and when the writers get their thumb out it can be every bit as good. Corrie does humour and comedy better than EE (This week's Blanche glorifying over funerals and her impeccable timing for a few of the lines for example) Well, EE doesn't do it at all much do they? The writing is getting better on Corrie after a few years of horrid stuff with only a few gems. But EE is fast becoming just as much a favourite to me and yes i feel a bit guilty and disloyal but .. well, I'm making no more apologies for it. Now... don't tell me, but will Kat ever forgive her father?

Hope everyone had a great time in Whitby that was going!

Just watching Jack Lemmon on IAS... he's just rendered the host speechless. They were discussing Days of Wine and Roses where he played an alcoholic. Host was saying the most moving scene for him was when Jack's character stood up and said... I'm .... and I'm an alcoholic. Jack leaned forward and said "I am one".. I'm an alcoholic" James (host) questioned him if he was re-playing the part or was it him. No, Jack says, I am an alcoholic, me, Jack Lemmon. You could have heard a pin drop and the host just stared at him. What's he going to say i wonder... he made no comment for about a minute and finally continued to congratulate him on that movie as a stunning performance. Would have been interesting to see the bits they cut out. With the amount of research the host does, something like that would have been known if it was known so I'm wondering if this was Jack's public "coming out" so to speak. I'll bet it's always been a very private thing. Unusual for Hollywood even in the old days something like that might have been known but just not talked about.
