Christmas surprise

But not really a good one. I've been on course for the last three days so was out of the office. We had our Christmas do last night which was fun but started out on a bit of a downer. My ride picked me up and we found out that at 4 p.m. today our director send around an email saying good bye. He had cleared out his office earlier and left before that!!! No he wasn't fired but there is a corporate reorganization. He has been the director of our business unit reporting directly to the CAO but our Business Unit is going to be sucked into another one, called Shared Services, which really, we are. So as of Jan, he would be reporting to another director instead though i believe he was more than likely offered the job of general manager for our IS department (Information Services/IT) so he wouldn't have lost his job. Even is Admin assistant had no idea. She didn't find out until she got to the dance last night and was visibly taken aback though she did say she suspected he had a couple of interviews a week or two ago as he had gone out for awhile on several days that he had been wearing suit and tie attire which he doesn't often do. He doesn't dress casual but you don't often see a tie on the man either. Some who know him better than i say he wouldn't have wanted the fuss made over him leaving and would have been too emotional giving a good bye speech and saying good bye to everyone. Be that as it may, i still feel a bit let down that our director quit and never told his staff until after he'd gone! He has his reasons for sure. I wonder if he'll turn up for the office party on the 20th....
