Cookie musing

sushidog was wondering where Bourbon Creams got their name, that's a little chocolate sandwich cookie. In doing a bit of googling, i discovered a Friends of the Bourbon Cream group who were giving a lecture on it's history at some point. If, as the say there, it may have re-emerged in prominence during Revolutionary France, that would indicate where the Bourbon name came from. However i also found the Peek Freans site which claims to have invented the first sandwich style cookie in 1910 which later became the bourbon cream.

Then there's just the silliness of creating cookiehenges.

They're called "con crema al whisky" in Italian.

Have a three week trial for a new Avon face cream. I shall be transformed. Yeah right. Appears you still need to use a moisturizer with it anyway.

Mom and Dad off to Sedona, Arizona this weekend. Have heard from several people that this is an awesome place. Will be house sitting on weekends so that i can use the car. :) Wheels!

Have now got a map of the London Underground on my work computer as wallpaper. There are so many people i want to see and meet when i get to London! Shall have to have a pub open house or something LOL

Need a new backpack. The strap on mine is starting to fray badly. nearly 5 years old though so i guess it's time. Don't want anything fancy.

Has anyone noticed that the new Spanish Prime Minister bears a striking resemblence... to Mr. Bean????

Thanks to lola_is_naughty's recent post about Hollywood Squares snappy answers, i have been inspired to create a poll about game shows you knew and loved back in the 70's. Now i know many of these may not have appeared in non-North America but feel free to fill in your favourite "Other" if you watched shows native to your own country. If there was a similar game show that mirrored one of these, just use these ticky boxes. (i.e. Who Wants to be a Millionaire had lots of versions in various countries)

Some of the people on my friends list have been posting album quizes, guess the album and band from a description of the album cover or from the album review. Naturally i didn't get almost any except two that were pretty obvious. BUT....I now have a list of artists and plan to download some random songs to see what i might like.

It helps to have something to start with so i don't download crap or just any random thing. I don't do extreme metal or punk but i don't mind "middle of the road" punk ;) i do like metal, however, for instance i like Nine Inch Nails, Aerosmith, Heart, . Also like New Model Army, James, Afghan Whigs, Inspiral Carpets, some of Frank Black... just to give you an idea of some random stuff.
