Happy Birthday [livejournal.com profile] metalhellsangel! Where are you ???

I took myself to lunch today at a place called Cora's. It's a "breakfast" place that serves all kinds of eggy things, crepes, as well as some salads, soups and quiche. It serves for breakfast and lunch only and there are a couple of them around now. Food was good though limited choice for salad dressing. Salad was a mix of greens but only had Kraft packets of dressing for it, Italian, Ranch and Caesar. Bleh. Oh and sun dried tomato which i dislike. Something like this needs an oil and balsamic vinegar. The onion soup was good but served without the soup spoon. Tea as is often the case, a pot of hot water and the teabag in the cup instead of pouring the water over the bag. And no milk on the table, only cream. however the food was good. The sandwich that came with it was a baguette openface with ham tomatoe and cheese.

I had to pick out a couple of picture frames and i took in the ones i had already bought so they could assemble painting into frame. They don't charge a lot for this so that's all sorted. Will pick them up next week.

Sent a birthday pressie in the mail to my honey and bought some stamps for Christmas cards. Sheesh they're so expensive!

Took myself to see Bridget Jones, Edge of Reason. Hmmm. Reason and Bridget Jones don't really seem to go in the same sentence do they lol I loved the first movie. But i read a not very flattering review just before i went. Damn i hate that. And i have to agree with it to an extent. It *is* more of the same and it didn't flow quite as well as the first movie did. She's still the queen of cock-ups, still manages to put her foot in things very firmly. Why Mark Darcy loves her is beyond me only because they are so different but he does, maybe for that exact reason. However things don't go well as you would expect. I found the voice over narration not quite as fresh and funny this time around. The action didn't flow as smoothly, as i said, it was a bit disjointed and choppy. Bridget finds herself in Bangkok on assignment with her former boss and rat-lover Daniel Cleaver and... well... he hasn't changed really. I don't want to say more or i'll spoil the action though you won't be too long figuring it out anyway. Yes it's predictable, but it is what it is. A sequel. You know the drill.

Having said that, i did enjoy it but not as much as the first one. Colin Firth plays the buttoned up Darcy well, barely able to crack his face with an emotion yet you can tell he feels it. Hugh Grant is Daniel with shorter hair and a suntan and plays him as the same rakish "love rat" he was before but i like Grant in this role rather than his usual wittery weak git. I love Bridget's friends and i love her parents, small roles but they always make me smile. Apparently this movie had four, count em four writers. It shows. I did like it. I did. But maybe i should have waited for the video.

In other news, i was standing at the bus stop after the movie when a car pulled up at the stop light and some young dood hollered out the window asking where i bought my tote bag. He *said* he liked it. Then he said something else that i couldn't make out and said no honestly it's one ugly bag lolol (It's bright green, blue, pink, sort of a zig zag and stripey pattern and it's old and a bit ratty but it's big and wide and i still use it if i need to carry large items like the picture frames i had to take with me today). The girl standing there waiting along side tsked and said what an asshole. Why would people bother to say stuff like that? I just shrugged and laughed. I guess it amuses them. It doesn't make much difference to me if he likes my bag or not lol Silly boy child. ;)

When i got home, there is a post office card in my mailbox. Yes i re-joined Columbia house dvd club so i think that means there are about 7 or 8 dvd's at the post office for me. I can't even remember all the ones i ordered though i am pretty sure i ordered Gone with the Wind and a couple other older classic movies.

I know the other thing i meant to mention about the Bridget Jones movie. The cheesy soundtrack. Horrible songs. Don't ask me. i've blocked them. But i suppose cheesy tacking music suits the character of Bridget doesn't it LOL

Oh i bought a dvd of the 25th anniversary of Saturday Night Live today and i got the new Nick Cave double cd as well as a greatest hits compliation by HIM :)
