What a gorgeous day outside, much nicer than yesterday. I walked over to the corner store to return a dvd. The street i live on runs along one side of a small lake which you can see through the houses on that side of the street. As i was walking back home i spotted someone out in the middle of the lake ice fishing and someone on the other side skating with a hockey stick. Nice day for it too, though i do hope the ice is still thick enough to support them. I assume so. Once we have a month of arctic temps like we did in January, the ice stays thick enough to support until mid to late March when the temps start going above zero.

I have my windows open to blow some of the winter stink off the place. I've been painting so the air gets a bit thick with that sometimes but the apartment usually does get noticeably stuffy so i take advantage of the few days that it's warm enough to air the place out. I do have the scent of garlic wafting out of the kitchen though. I'm doing a pork roast and i'm going to have that with some nice cabbage and i have some instant mash in the cupboard so i will probably do that up as well. Yes a proper meal lol I can have cold pork for sandwiches for work tomorrow too. Yummmmm.

Woody Allen is wittering on tv. Let me see what else is on. I can't stand him. Ooh the Wrath of Khan is on. Best. StarTrek. Movie. ("the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few... or the one") Star Trek VI was good (the one with the whales) and i liked the one where the Next Gen. crew went back in time to where warp drive was invented which ended up thwarting the Borg (i think).

Oh, the dvd i rented? Vanity Fair. I saw it in the theatre but i'm reading the book just now so i wanted to see it again. I am enjoying the book though Thackery does tend to wobble off on tangents a lot. Much as if you do when you're just sitting and gossiping though. It's a very thick book which i think is somewhat unusual for having been written in the 1848. A lot of books then were written and then serialized in weekly newspapers as i'm sure this probably was. Quite a good view of early 19th century society, social climbing and the rise and fall of one Becky Sharp. I've also got a small two volume 99 year old set of Pepys diaries that i keep meaning to try, bought in a lovely second had bookstore called the Haunted Bookstore in Sidney, near Victoria on Vancouver Island, BC.

Gramie's back online too but i'll let him tell you all about that when he gets back from his dad's tonight.

Mwah!

Mark Wahlberg just admitted, when he is asked where he took his acting training, that he learned from the Penny Marshal school of acting, meaning, he learned how to act from her as director on his first film.

That explains *so* much.
