tvordlj: (In the news)
As i left the building yesterday, i saw an odd sight and naturally i didn't have my phone with me so no photo. A woman was crossing the street. On a unicycle. Turns out she is part of a unicycle team that will be participating in a race later in June so she must have been out training or else on her way to participate in the interview for this story that's in today's paper.

This is probably only going to make the Canadians chuckle. In that cartoon, "Dalton" is the premier of Ontario, traditionally a rich province. Toronto is the financial capital of Canada and Ontario has always had the money and the power. Now their economy is suffering a bit. The other guy in the cartoon is Danny Williams, premier of Newfoundland, traditionally a very poor province which now has a booming economy thanks to the offshore oil and natural gas flowing in. Newfoundlanders have long been the butt of jokes too, i.e. Newfie jokes. The Ontario government has been moaning lately about their lot in life.

1. Describe where you grew up:
The street where i grew up (age 4 - adulthood) was a small dead end street. There were single detached houses and a few buildings that had three apartments, flats i guess as they were. The city where i grew up and still live is on the Atlantic coast of Nova Scotia, with a lovely large harbour. The city is big enough to have lots to do but not really huge. I think the urban area is about 200,000 maybe a bit more. The whole county of Halifax is one political unit and is about 350,000.

2. Do you wear any jewelery?
Mainly rings, my engagement ring, a claddagh ring, a silver ring with a blue / black/white fimo stone, and a silver band with celtic design on it. I wear a watch and a leather bracelet. I often wear earrings and sometimes wear a necklace.

3. What do you have too much of?
Coronation Street stuff. (books, magazines, dvds)

4. Who is a fool?
I couldn't possibly comment.

5. What's your nickname?
Tvor :) (The Voice of Reason). Or you can call me Di.

I'd been sitting here for a couple of hours, occasionally thinking i could hear water dripping. I assumed it was the fridge as it sometimes makes that kind of sound when the motor has just shut off. Imagine my shock when i walked into the kitchen to see the dishwater in the sink within a hair of overflowing!!! I had filled up the sink earlier to soak the dishes and obviously didn't turn off the tap completely. Whew! Just caught it in time. I ladled out a a couple of litres or more using my large measuring cup and poured that into a pot. There was enough "wiggle" room to do the dishes until i could let a bit more water out.

Looks like we're going to have a bright, sunny weekend. Finally. Going shopping with Mom tomorrow as she wants to pick up a few things and I may have a look at one or two of the clothing stores plus i want to pick up a photo album for my holiday snaps.
