Jul. 19th, 2008 11:52 amFirst off, Happy birthday to
worldcrzgirl!
We were up and out early today (I stayed over at me Mam's) as she wanted to pick up a train ticket. We had to go downtown for that and i know the Pride parade is later today, wasn't sure when they were blocking off the streets. As it was, there was a lot of traffic for a Saturday morning but the Farmers' market does attract a lot of people. On the way back, we went into Cleve's sporting goods so i could get new sneakers. They had a New Balance brand "recycle" sale where you could get $20 off a new pair if you traded in your old New Balance shoes or $15 off if they weren't NBs. Mine were. :) The ones i ended up with were on sale from $139 to 79.99 and then with $20 off and 13% tax added on they were still under $70 so ... Score!
Man, lots of construction around today too. Cole Harbour Road, MacKay Bridge, both on and just off it. All slowed things down no matter which route you took. Seeing men working on the bridge up on the tops of the suspension cables and in those hydraulic lifty crow's nest sort of things, you really have to have a good head for heights on those! We did chuckle though. On a small platform sticking out over the side of the bridge were two portaloos! Eek!
We're going out for a nice lunch with one of my nephews and my niece in a little while so that will be nice. Mom' off to New Brunswick tomorrow until Thursday. I guess I'm taking the car though i probably won't need it much but i'll have to take it to work on Thursday to then go and pick her up after work at the train station which is at the other end of the downtown. It'll be 5 o'clock or so when the train comes in so since i'm already downtown it's easier than asking someone else to come down through the traffic.
