Well i'm grounded. The ash cloud buggered up UK airspace and Manchester was closed yesterday and up to this morning. I think it's open now but they've already cancelled my flight out of Heathrow anyway because the cloud has shifted down that way. So i'm up at 5:30 to see what's going on, on the phone to Air Canada. I asked if they could get me on the Halifax direct flight instead of through toronto and they could but it meant i will have to stay overnight tomorrow night. I'll put in a booking on a hotel shortly. But i had also asked if i could just make my way down by bus or train and stay in a hotel and get the flight tomorrow and she said it wasn't normaly allowed, you had to rebook from your original destination. She was going to find out but will get back to me. I hate waiting for the phone to ring and it's been over 4.5 hours already. Having said that, she did hold a reservation for me on the evening flight tomorrow and the Halifax one for Wednesday morning but i haven't got confirmation. If i haven't heard by this afternoon, i'm going to check at the airport when we take the car back since we have to take it back there anyway. It's nice i get an extra day here with Graham but he goes back to work tomorrow so i'll have to book a taxi to the airport rather than have the convenience of our own car. I could go by train but that's a lot more slogging around with the luggage!
