Wedding party day was long but a lot of fun. Graham's sister-in-law, two of his nephews and the girlfriend of one of them arrived about 9, we walked across street to the cafe for breakfast and then back here for a visit. They wanted to go to the cemetery where Graham's Dad and Mom's ashes were scattered so we headed over there in the rain. They have a lovely garden of rememberence there lined with flowers and memorial plaques and lots of green lawn. Very nice. I haven't seen one like that at home though i'm sure there are places like that in Canada.

Back to the flat for a quick visit and cuppa and then they were off to check into their hotel and get ready for the wedding "knees up". We got ready and ended up waiting over a half hour for a taxi to get there! It's Saturday night but it's not very late. Sheesh. anyway, one couple was there already, having traveled up from Malvern and people started to trickle in coming along shortly after. We had about 40 i'd say out of the 55 to 60 we thought might come so that was a good number, i think.  The function room was large and everyone that came in groups pretty much sat with their own group. I introduded a few people around so that the ones that really knew nobody else could have someone to chat with. We couldn't stay with one table all night. Mainly we circulated separately to make sure we got around to all, though were together as well because there were a lot of people i didn't know, members of his family and some of his old friends. There were so many very nice people and i'm quite pleased to be part of this new family.

We didn't have any dancing though a couple of younger people did get up a couple of times when the music moved them! They all quite liked the music playlist i set up on my iPod, a mix of a lot of variety of styles of music. The food was good though it wasn't what we had thought we would be having. The change in management changed what they offered for "finger food" buffets but it was nice. The loaded potato halves were quite tasty and the chicken wings were as well, though their definition of "jumbo" and mine differ vastly. Since the food was set for 60, there was lots for people to have extra.

In addition to meeting lots of new people, it was wonderful to catch up with my old Manchester and Corrie friends as well. We had guests that had traveled a fair distance, too which is flattering. Ipswich, Bury St. Edmonds, Malvern, London, Glasgow, Cardiff, Sunderland, the Peak District in addition to the greater Manchester area. The couple from Bury St. Edmonds ended up staying on Graham's sofa bed because their hotel turned out to be a nightmare. We came back here at the end of the night and chatted until the wee hours. Still had to get up early on Sunday because Graham's family wanted to drop in before getting back on the road to Ipswich so we were all up at 8. Aggh. After everyone left, Graham and I took things easy, ran over to the grocery story to get some things for a stew and had a quiet day but we're up early again this morning, waiting for an electrician. They give you a general time, 8 - 12 so you need to be up and ready just in case. But of course they never come early when you want them to.

Once that's sorted, we're going to a garden centre near Oldham to have a coffee with another friend who is the part owner. They have a really nice cafe there. Might even have lunch there. We'll be ready for it by then. Tonight is a rock opera based on Jethro Tull music at the Lowry and we're off on our road trip tomorrow. Yay!
