Feb. 9th, 2018 02:32 pmRight. So those spots on my feet are starting to feel like the callouses are coming back. I think I should put some coverage on them, moleskin or something. It doesn't feel like the edge of the orthotics are rubbing but I must be walking with enough of a list or something to cause the rubbing. Or maybe it's just still tender from the removal, I'm not sure.
Monday this week did not have a dignified start. We had a huge amount of rain overnight. That means outside the entrance to my building will be flooded and I do mean over the ankle flooded. Yep. And it's flooded over half way out to the sidewalk and street. I'm not wearing my boots. I think if i can get to the side where the grass is,where it rises up with a low concrete barrier that keeps the dirt and lawn in place, I can walk to the street on the lawn. I should have just walked all the way through the water. My feet wouldn't have got any wetter than they got as I hopped over to the grassy side. I got there, stepped up onto the short concrete barrier and turned to the street, slipped in the mud and went down on my backside/hip. AT least I discovered that mud is soft to fall on! What a mess. Someone was inside the door of the building waiting for a ride and came out to help but I managed to get up on my own. Oh well. Had to go back upstairs and change because I was wet to the skin and muddy. Missed my usual bus. Had to wear my boots then because I didn't have any other decent shoes but even if i had, I'd need to get through the water without another soaking! I brought my shoes to work but they never did dry during the day though were when I got in the next morning.
I was a little sore the next day but not enough to complain about at least. That happened last year, too, on the way home after work. I got off the bus and into the snow where I couldn't tell where the curb was and landed on my knees.
We're going to a gig tonight. G. is starting to get invitations locally through a promoter that sends him music to play on his radio show. He interviews the band and plays their music and gets to see the gig. I think there are other bands on as well. I didn't go the last time because it was not a weekend .
Been sleeping a little bit better this week. Hate to say that out loud in case it jinxes things.
And time to start the reading list for 2018. The annual goal to read 90 books was surpassed last year but I generally keep the goal the same. Here's the first 8.
