Feb. 20th, 2004 10:39 amThis morning has already started pissing me off LOL Am running low on bread so i thought i'd fire up the breadmaking machine though i haven't used it in years. Found a recipe for cheese and onion bread and when trying to pour the last of the white flour into a cup, i dropped it into the sink full of suds. Then discovered i did indeed have some whole wheat flour which i could have used for that last cup as the recipe called for it. Put all the stuff in, turned on the machine and just when it mixed everything into a wet sticky blob, the machine stopped working and started groaning. It refuses to do anything with the sticky mass of dough so i've had to toss it out. If i had known that, i would have just made the damn bread by hand and it would be rising in the bowl by now.
We've broken Canadian snowfall records for a one day fall. over 90 cm. that's over 3 feet boys and girls. Drifts up to 5 and 6 feet high. I got up at 6 to hear the news just to make sure we were told to stay home and watched out the window as the little sidewalk plow helped drag that van out of the driveway. Later this morning i saw the plow helping to dig out the car that was stuck on the street. The sky is clear and blue at the moment. What a difference! It's still cold and windy. I might go out later to see if the corner store is open. Could use bread and milk and OJ and fresh air. No busses yet. One guy started to dig out his car that was completely buried. I see now that he didn't get very far. I can't even see that he found the bumper yet. The drift he was trying to make headway in was up to his shoulders.
No newspaper today either. I don't imagine the store has one either but they may. I guess maybe i should try to go over sooner than later as they may sell out of the basics soon.

Bread problem

Date: 2004-02-20 07:28 am (UTC)I used a recipe that called for part white and part whole wheat so i assume the liquid was correct for that. In the end there was only a half cup of whole wheat where the recipe called for a cup. I think the machine is focked. I've not used it in years.
